Pregnancy & Parenting - 1 September 2007

My son is 12 years old, and only has a few chores that he has to do, and they only get done when I tell him to do them. We have been struggling financially in the family here lately, and my husband called to inform me that he got a $300 bonus today from work and when he gets home we'll all go shopping. It's been soooo long since I went shopping for pleasure. I told my son and he said, "How much will I get?" my husband said that if he behaved all day and didn't argue with me, he'd give him $10. My son got mad and started crying. He says he should get at least $20 and I said, be grateful for what you have, $10 is more than you had yesterday. Then my husband got mad and said if he won't be happy with $10 I'll just keep it! My husband pawned a ring yesterday and got gas and cigarettes then bought my son a game for his PSP with the rest so it's not like he never gets things. Shouldn't he be grateful for $10 or should we give him more? I know $10 isn't a lot, but it's something!

Im 6 weeks pregnant and i had been bleeding for 6 days but i has stopped and i went to the doctor thursday and he said my hormone levels where dropping and i was going to have a miscarriage and he said i would probably pass it in the toilet but today is Saturday and i have stopped bleeding but when i was bleeding i didn't see anything in the toilet so does that mean my baby still have a chance and my level was only dropping because i was bleeding!! If someone has/or is going through this please help me. I need a miracle

My beautiful 4 year old grandaughter is the centre of the universe in our family. She is healthy and happy little girl and we make sure that she gets the best of everything! We buy her whatever she wants including the most expensive toys and clothes!

How angry I and my family was at the country fair the other day when we encountered a young woman who would not give up her seat at the picnic table for her.

There weren't alot of seats at the picnic tables but we spotted an empty space next to a young lady who was sitting all alone.

****Without asking if the seat was taken****, I directed my grandaughter to sit right beside the young woman who was looking around as if waiting for someone to come back

The young woman politely said to my grandaughter that she was sorry but her boyfriend was sitting there and he had just gone up to get a coffee and that he would be back in 1 minute.

Well, I just was appalled. Because my grandaughter is a child and she must always come first!

I mean, come on! We all like to brag about our little angels, sure, and we're here to offer advice and opinions, but when I see a question, and all it's doing is stating what a brilliant choice this parents supposedly made for their children, which the rest of society should look up to and follow, I'm left wondering if these people are genuine!

I read this paragraph about instilling respect in children, and it got me thinking. How many children now a days seem to act so disrespectful to everyone, and think it is there right to act this way. I know if I ever acted as disrespectful like that to anyone I would be in alot of trouble with my parents as a child.

Do you think it is because of lack of time? television raising our children, videos that teach our children, society as a whole excepting this behavior? is it because the whole village is not raising a child now a days- people dont want to get involved?

It seems a sad day when you see these gangs controlling the street and people afraid to step up to these CHILDREN OF THE STREETS and say hey you are being disrespectful and need to learn how to treat others with respect.

Just was wondering what others think of this?
