That is true Penny, and i plan on doing so, i am going to be a first time mother , and i would just like to have these books as a bit of a back up. No one ever knows everything, and i feel having these books as a back up is a good start, and certainly couldnt hurt.

I wrote stories for a curriculum about human virtues--honesty, courage, responsibility, etc. I don't know if it's available to the public. It was published by Keystone Curriculum on Haywood street in College Station, TX. There are six of these books, meant to be read to the children, one from K-5.

There is a certain danger that must be avoided. Bad behavior does not always have bad consequences. They will see people get away with things. Drivers will speed and not get caught. Students will cheat and get better grades or get caught and not suffer any consequences. You can't base a morality on the consequences.

Nor can we base morality on feelings. I feel bad when I cheat but I feel good that I beat the system. So it becomes a sort of trade off of feelings.

A book is fine, but the best way to teach morals is to be a role model for your children.

I agree with Pennypincher. You must be the role model. None of us is adequate to the task. So ask God for help. He gave us this huge book full of His ideas about the best and worst ways of relating to each other-The Bible. I believe you would find it is the biggest bestseller of any other books mentioned here, at 100 million copies a year.

Hello dear,

I did a search on an e-books site I have in my favs and came up with this. Hope it helps you out. If not, email me and I'll see if it can get the publisher's name for some of the home schooling books my mate used for his kids.

William J. Bennett wrote "The Book of Virtues" and "The Children's Book of Virtues," among other books of that genre.
