Although this didn't happen to me, I have heard of this happening before. When you nurse oxytocin is released, and it makes you feel good. My doctor told me about this and said for some women it creates a sensual (not sexual) feeling. You're not alone, it's okay and totally normal.

I found this addressed on BabyCenter.com

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but sometimes when I feed my daughter, I feel a little aroused. I read this is normal. Is it?

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. It's a normal physiological response to lactation hormones. Breastfeeding feels good! If it didn't, very few mothers would do it. It might help to understand just what hormonal responses are taking place.

As your baby nurses, prolactin — known as the "mothering hormone" — stimulates the body to manufacture milk. This hormone gives you a feeling of relaxation and well-being. Oxytocin, another hormone secreted during breastfeeding, causes the alveoli to contract, releasing milk into the ducts, the milk sinuses, and your baby's mouth. This hormone is responsible for the tingling sensation some mothers feel before a milk ejection reflex, or letdown, and the postpartum uterine cramping felt while breastfeeding.

Oxytocin also causes labor contractions during childbirth and pleasure contractions during orgasm. Varying amounts of oxytocin are attributed to these different contractions. The arousal you describe while nursing may also be the result of the empowerment and satisfaction you feel knowing that you are meeting all of your daughter's nutritional and emotional needs at the breast.

Soft and firm and silky to the touch with a hard and pointed centre that responds to stimulation well... as before - the reason for the silky feel is the very thin layer of subcutaneous fat that provides one extra layer of insulation for women

Don't stop breastfeeding! I think this is just a normal sensation. You are not alone, I know other women who have said the same thing.

Yes, it is normal. I went through that with my oldest. I was embarrassed as an assult survior, so I weaned. I did not know it was a common feeling. I did not experience it as strongly with my other 3 as I did with the first.

Nipple stimulation causes uterine contractions, so it can definately effect other areas down there!

It's normal. Breastfeeding releases oxytocin, which is the same hormone that is released during an orgasm. There is no reason to stop, or to feel ashamed.

Ok, I think this is a joke & an annoying one. It's hard enough to breastfeed in todays Hooters culture without people thinking your getting off on it. Sexual response is greatly diminished in a breastfeeding woman & while it does feel good to breastfeed that good feeling is from oxytocin which is the "cuddly" hormone that increases bonding with baby...not testosterone which is the driving force behind male & female sexual response.

Agree with just me. One thing is feeling good and happy, and other is getting aroused. Those are two different things. And don't forget the largest erogenous zone in a woman is her brain.

Enough said.

never ever known anyone to have this experience! Speak to your midwife, but it does seem a bit sick.
