Pregnancy & Parenting - 21 August 2007

If you were able to breast feed and not use a bottle for awhile, please tell me about your experience. I am not working right now (due to loss of job recently) and am not planning on working until it is needed. I just dont know how inconveinent it will be to solely breast feed! Any advice would be great.

I was so mortified. The medical staff treated me like a cow. I hated being exposed to so many strangers like that. Why doesn't it bother other people?

I've been ttc for about 1.5 yrs. Finally got preg in Feb of this yr and had a mc in April. I was devastated and didn't even want to hear the word pregnant but thru prayer and your support not to mention the support of hubby and fams I am at a much better place. I took clomid this month and Im suppose to test on Sunday. I'm just asking for you to take 30 seconds and say a prayer for me. You've never met a person that wanted to be a mommy so badly.

P.S. By the way I am a Kindergarten teacher so children are my whole world. I just want one of my own.

At what age did you start putting your child down for bed at a regular time? Our son is 3 1/2 months and sleeps through the night. We're putting him to bed around 8:30 and I'm not sure if it's working or not. What are some tricks you used to get your child to sleep?

So I have been breastfeeding for 5 weeks.It was going so good and I was really encouraged.

Now all of a sudden, on my right nipple there is a little crack and looks like it is bleeding....it is extrememly painful to nurse on that side so I pump, and even that is painful but not so much.

I am wondering if it is normal to have it be going good and then take a step back like this?

And would it be terrible if I just pumped this side while I heal?

i think its mad that people moan about a woman breastfeeding in public when 99% of them fully cover up yet no body moans that my kids can go in a shop and open a newspaper and see woman with boobs out of even worse look to the top shelf and see porn mags just the covers are more indecent than a breastfeeding mother

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I have had heartburn since yesterday. I have tried the Tums, Milk, Bread, Pudding, Jello and nothing seems to work.
What else can I do? Also what does having heartburn mean while pregnant? Something wrong?
This is my first baby so any advice would help.

Never had a UTI in my life. I didn't feel any symtoms what-so-ever (other than naseau, tired, frequent need to urinate, all to expect during your first trimester).

I went for my pre-natal yesterday, as I had all my blood work and urine test done last week. My doctor said we couldn't go further until we cleared up this UTI. I am worried because I have no clue how long I have had it for - as I have not experienced anything unusual (well, except for the same side-effects that pregnancy causes).

I am worried that it may have been lingering for some time now and that I put the baby at risk... what are the chances it has moved to the kidneys? Or would you know if it has? She said she found small traces of blood.... This is all so foreign to me.

I just wanted an outside opinion on this.

I had sex with my boyfriend at the time in the middle of December. We broke up shortly afterwords. An ex-boyfriend came back into my life in January. I had a period on 01/14-01/18. The new boyfriend and I began having sex on 01/19 and continued until 2/14. I found out I was pregnant on 02/11. Unforturnately I miscarried on 2/25. When I told my boyfriend that I was pregnant, he asked how I knew it was his. He had been the only man I had been with since I had my period. Things got bad between us and he left the week I found out I was pregnant. A week after I lost the baby, he claimed that it couldn't have been his, he had a vasectomy.

My question is, Is it more likely that he is lying or that the pregnancy was a result of having sex in December with the other guy? When I went in for the transvaginal ultrasound, the tech said it was too early to really see anything (on 02/23).

My grandson and his girlfriend have been taking drugs and she is 5 months pregnant,she has been told the unborn baby has a gap in it,s spine right at the bottom.They have told her she can have a termination but they have to make that decision.
My heart is broken over this and i am only it,s great grandmother.Will this child survive in this world,does anyone on here have the same,what do we all do,it will surly be loved if it comes int this world..

I'm on CD 16 I should ovulate within the next 24 hours i got an almost + on my opk yesterday and today I haven't taken one yet, but we BD last night and I used preseed and held my legs up for 30 minutes propped on a pillow.......TMI i'm sorry but i'm really hoping to catch that eggie this month. The first day of my last period was Aug. 1st. My ovulation dates were last week through this past weekend. My husband works out of town on the week days, so we only had sex, Friday, and Suday. Last night, I woke up to cramps in my lower stomach, it felt like my period was coming. But Its not time for it. The same thing today, off and on I am having period like cramps, that are mild. Could this be a sign of pregnancy? Or is it too early for somthing like that to be happening?? Thank you for your help guys!!

My son was thought to have a mild lactose intolerance when he was about a week old when he was having trouble digesting breast milk, and formula milk. We put him on soya and he was fine for a while, then we tried him back on normal formula and he has seemed ok. Now he has just turned one and we put him on cows milk. He seemed to have trouble digesting and was very fussy. He had never slept through the night and he seemed to get even worse with this cows milk. We put him on goats milk about 2 weeks ago, and he is like a different baby, he sleeps through, he's so content its amazing. But he seems fine with ordinary cheese, butter and yogurt etc. Could he still have a lactose intolerance? I thought this would mean he struggled with all dairy, but since being on goats he is the best he has ever been, and is so peaceful all the time, i cant work it out!!

Ok so Barry doesn't seem to be that popular judging by your responses to my last question for a boys name! What about these names above? My partner likes all these old fashioned names that seem to be trendy again. But to me Jack, Harry, Charles still sound old and not cool at all! I had uncles' by these names when I was a kid and that was a long time ago!

But she's insistent on one of these names. So what's best:

My toddler has had what I think is a drool rash around his mouth and for a little over a week now. I think it is a drool rash because he just got two new teeth a couple of days ago and has been drooling quite a bit. No fever, no other symptoms other than a runny nose. He had this problem when he was very young and the pedi had me use a little hydrocortisone which worked wonders in a couple of days. We didn't have any more issues in about a year, but now it is back. The hydrocortisone isn't working now, and I have also tried Aquaphor and vaseline several times a day for a few days in a row. I am doing my best to keep it clean and dry. I don't think it is yeast because the inside of his mouth is totally normal. It isn't showing any signs of improvement. I called the doctors office and the nurse just said it was just due to teething and unless there is fever or other issues there is nothing they can do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello, I just found I am 6 weeks pregnant a couple of days ago. For some reason, I'm constantly worrying if I am going to miscarry since I have been cramping here and there. No spotting though...I guess I am just excited with my 1st child and I want it to go smoothly. Am I being too paronoid? Did anybody else feel the same way as I do? Any advice will be appreciated! Like going through drawers, closets, looking under the bed/mattress, and ever their diaries, etc,. Just to keep up with whats going on in their lives and making sure they are making the right decisions and not having sex, doing drugs or drinking.
