I recently heard about my high school in my small town located in Southwest Virginia having a much higher teen pregnancy than the years I went from 1998-2002. And also in my regions there's a lot people getting married young, under the age of 25, sometimes under the age of 20. And I know the national average is 25 or more to get married. And I'm not sure but apparently teen pregnancy rates are up. So anyway how does your region (city, state, county, etc) measure up?

Has anyone taken Ambien CR during pregnancy? My previous doctor precribed me Ambien in my last pregnancy during the 3rd trimester. I have a new doctor, so I don't know what she recommends. But I am 19 weeks, and have been taken Ambien CR a few times a week, and cut the pills in half. Last night I took the full pill (12.5 mg) and it was not pleasant. I felt totally drunk, was out of it, threw up.
Has anyone else had any expreince with Ambien? Is it really safe during pregnancy?

ok to start off with i had a flu shot when i was 26 weeks pregnant. i know that its not gonna keep the flu away completely but i didnt think i would get it either... of course the thing is im not sure if i really have the flu either. has anyone gotten the flu shot while pregnant then ended up getting the flu later on?

see, the reason i dont think i have the flu is because, when you get the flu usually you cant eat anything and when you do it doesnt stay down, with me, i can eat like normal just all day long i feel really sick like im gonna barf, kind of like morning sickness.. i heard that sometimes that comes back in late pregnancys but i also have been haveing lots of head aches and one min i will be hot then the next i will be cold, all my muscles feel really weak. could this be the flu or morning sickness comming back, or is it possible that its just the way my body is reacting to not being able to get enough sleep (to much pains keep me awake ALL night, i nap as much as i can)

I am 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. I recently had a miscarriage so we have decided to take it easy. I eat all the right things. I sleep as much as I can. So far so good. I only get tiny little cramps here and there but I think its just my uterus and tendons stretching. This morning when I was sleeping I had a dream that I was having an orgasm. I woke up immediatly because I had a sharp really painful cramp in my stomach and uterus. After a few seconds it went away. Is that normal?

Well Saturday [Jan 13] was my 2 yr anniversary with my boyfriend and, of course, the main thing we did was have sex.. 4 times on Friday, 3 times on Saturday, 2 times on Sunday, and 1 time on Monday.. Each time was unprotected and the "pull out" method was used.. We started wondering when my next period would come so we checked my mymonthlycycles account and little did we know, Thursday - Monday were my fertile days.. Then he comes out and tells me that he feels that he may have pulled out a little late about 2 or 3 times but it wasnt on purpose.. What are my chances of being pregnant???

Newborn and Baby
Consumer Reports Magazine Crash test worries

In its February 2007 issue, Consumer Reports magazine reported on crash tests it performed to test the safety of car seats. The results were not encouraging.

Most of the infant car seats tested by Consumer Reports "failed disastrously" in crashes at speeds as low as 56 km/h. The seats came off their bases or twisted in place, the report said. In one case, a test dummy was hurled more than nine metres.

Of the 12 car seats tested, Consumer Reports said it could recommend only two, and it urged a U.S. federal recall of the poorest performing seat, the Evenflo Discovery, which is not sold in Canada.

All the car seats passed U.S. standards — but Consumer Reports argues those standards should be raised.

To be sold in Canada and the United States, an infant seat must perform adequately in a 48 km/h frontal crash, and Consumer Reports found that all but the Discovery did so. But it noted that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducts its crash tests for new cars at higher speeds — 56 km/h for frontal crashes and 61 km/h for side crashes — so the magazine tested the seats at those speeds.

"It's unconscionable that infant seats, which are designed to protect the most vulnerable children, aren't routinely tested the same as new cars," said Consumer Reports' Don Mays, a product safety director.

The only seats that passed all the tests were the Baby Trend Flex-Loc and the Graco SnugRide with EPS — expanded polystyrene foam — both selling for about $90 US. Consumer Reports urged parents shopping for seats to buy one of those two, but it also noted that "any child car seat is better than no seat at all."

It also said some seats performed better when attached by vehicle safety belts than when attached with the LATCH system. The system, which stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, includes belts that hook the base of a car seat to metal anchors in the vehicle.

Consumer Report Article
On January 4, 2007, Consumer Reports published a safety alert in the U.S. claiming that most infant car seats failed their new front- and side-crash evaluation tests. The report also claims that of 12 seats tested, only two performed well: the Baby Trend Flex-Loc and the Graco SnugRide with EPS (i.e., expanded polystyrene). Only six of the twelve infant car seat models chosen by Consumer Reports for this testing are officially certified for and marketed in Canada. They are: the Graco SnugRide; the Peg-Perego Primo Viaggio SIP; the Evenflo Embrace V; the Graco SafeSeat; the Safety 1st Designer 22; and the Combi Centre ST.
Transport Canada wants to reassure the Canadian travelling public that the Department’s collision investigations and data analyses do not support the results obtained by Consumer Reports. When car seats are used correctly, they perform effectively in motor vehicle collisions and child occupants are afforded optimum protection.

The Department takes the safety of children travelling in vehicles very seriously and is continually working to improve crash protection for children through research, development and enforcement of safety regulations, participation in various national and international committees that work on policy development, and public awareness campaigns.

When I first found out I was pregnant my breasts hurt really bad now they only usually get really sore at night when I am sleeping and sometimes afte3r I get out of the shower. The rest of the time they feel only a tiny bit sore. I read that if a woman had breast tenderness before her period then when she gets pregnant it will be even more painfull. They hurt even less now. Does this mean my hormones are dropping and I could possibly have a miscarriage or is this normal. I just recently had a miscarriage and I am so scared it will happen again since I am hardly even getting pregnancy symptoms. I cant get to the doctor for another couple of weeks due to insurance issues so that is out of the question. I just wanted to know if it is normal. I only get tiny cramps here and there but no bleeding. Thanks!!!

My ex-girlfriend is 3 months pregnant with my baby. I've tried everything to be with her, but she loves another man and wants nothing to do with me. She is 22, and I'm 26. I'm currently in college to be an elementary school teacher and have my own apartment, she works a 9-5 and lives with her parents. I want custody, or at least joint custody of our baby. Also, I would love for the baby to have my last name, but she is the unwed mother, so I believe it's her call? I don't know what I should do. Should I get a lawyer and go after her, if so, now or after the baby is born? Do I not get a lawyer and approach a different way? What are my chance if I do this? What happened to you in your situation? If you've been in this situation or know, please help me. I'm also aware that state laws vary, we live in New York. Thanks for your advice in advance!

I just went in to get my son because he woke up from his nap and he was totally sideways at the very top in his crib with his head pushing against the bars. He's been doing this quite alot in the past week, and I'm worried that he's going to hurt himself. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do? I should say he's almost 8 months, and he is 30" so he's too long to be sideways in his crib!

I am almost 33 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. I had twin boys in September 05 and got pregnant 8 months after having them. I had them at 36 weeks. I have been having weird pains but they are not regular and also sharp pains in my back I woke up last night with a horrible stomach ache and was just wondering what my chances were that I would go into early labor, I have had a stressful pregnancy taking care of twins on my own and have been arguing alot with the childrens father.
