well are their individuals you can find? A lot of times you can find mom groups on the web in your town that will have info posted on local things like home daycares. Call the DHS to see if they can give you a list of individuals in your town that watch children. Our local DHS has a list because any home daycare or daycare for that matter has to be regulated by them. Even if they do not offer DHS assistance.

Have you thought about cutting down on your hours so that you don't exceed the limit? If it's beneficial financially in the end, it may be something to consider.
Or have you looked into getting a better paying job so you can afford it?
This "private sitter" you're considering, is that like a live-out nanny? Because I'm a live-out nanny and make over $100/day, where as to put a child with a home childcare provider (in their home, not yours) it's about $30-40/day in my city

I have been a licensed home child care provider for 20 years. I live in Michigan, though. Look in your phone book, in the yellow pages, under Child Care Referral Services. Many areas have agencies that keep lists of licensed daycare homes and centers. You call them with your child care needs and they put you in touch with homes or centers who match your criteria. Government assistance will only help you pay a portion of child care costs, they will not help you locate a child care provider. If you are part of a church family ask your pastor or church secretary if they know of anyone who does child care. Look on the bulletin board at your local grocery store, the library, or other places where notices get posted. Look in your local newspaper for ads. Ask others with children who does child care for them. Most of my families come to me by word of mouth.

Call the local welfare office and ask if they can send you a list of registered child care personnel. Usually they can send you a list right away they may be able to email it or fax it to you. Or put an ad in the local paper for someone to come in your home an watch the child.

Have you checked online? Lots of daycare directories with people wanting to fill their slots. Also try posting in your immediate area "Daycare Wanted!" and check the local schools for postings. When i was looking for daycare I couldn't find any either, after talking to someone at the school she said she was "thinking" abotu starting a daycare but didn't really know hwo... i said if she did shed have one kid at least hehe. She is still doing daycare now and i have someone i can trust who lives up the street watching my son :) Post those daycare wanted signs!
