Pregnancy & Parenting - 5 January 2007

I found out I was pregnant a month ago. And my history is very scary... see my mother and father both are twins. I also had a grandpa who was a twin and an uncle who had a twin. Twins run in my family as you can tell. I have not had an ultrasound yet, I go tuesday, what I am wondering is ... I had to go back to the doctor just a few days ago because I am sick, with my sinuses, and they put me on the scales like they always do... well I had gained 10 pounds in a months. I cried of course. I have read that when you gain a lot in the first month that it could be a sign for twins. I already have a pooch and my cloths DON'T FIT. Do you think it could be possible? Only thing is that I haven't been sick at all! Not vomitted one time while I have been pregnant. I would think if it was twins that I would be extra sick. What is your opinion?

Can someone tell me why is it that when some young women or girls become pregnant why do they squeeze into clothes they know they can't fit. And all you see is the stomach and everything else hanging out.

My baby is only a few months old but I want to learn how to teach her about finances and budgeting before I need to. I wasn't taught how to budget and I still have problems with it and I really want to teach my daughter the best way to handle her money when that time comes. Any ideas or creative ways of teaching her about this?

I am mostly interested in hearing from poeple who have this carseat, and have used it extensively.

Our daughter is 20 pounds and is in a standard rear-facing Graco carseat, but it is only rated to 22 pounds, so we are about to need a new one.

How does this seat rate on ease of use and safety testing?

well i went for an ultra sound to see what my baby sex is and both times they could not see nothing then the doctor told me it might be a girl but he is not a 100% sure so they kept looking and they cant see no peanus and they even used heat to see if it was a boy but nothing so does this really means its a girl cause i been saying its a girl but what do u think?

She lied to me about smoking, says she only has had a few cigarettes and then criticizes me for being too paranoid about her pregnancy. I don't know what to do. I have been introducing baby food to my daughter since she was about 4-5 months old. We started out with rice cereal, then moved on to fruits and veggies, then added stage 2 foods like meats and desserts. She loved eating baby food at 6 months. We try to give her one serving of baby food at lunch and one serving at dinner.

Now I will feed her about 5 bites and then she will refuse any more food. She will still be hungry, so I would make her a small bottle, which she would eat. Then I stopped making a bottle after she refused food and would wait a little while and try to feed her again. That did not work.

She will not feed in a high chair either. You have to sit her on your lap. It usually takes me 15-20 mintues for me to feed her 1/2 of a Stage 1 jar. She should almost be on Stage 3! I have no idea what to do!

Okay, I admit it, I'm a snoop. Why? Because of my own insecurities. I'm 15.5 weeks pregnant with my first child. The guy that I am pregnant by is what you could call a "knock out" and any woman that seems to come in contact with him wants him. Well, we don't live together, but we have been seeing each other for 3 years. He went out to his home town for christmas and to visit his other children. When he got home he wanted to spend time with me. After having great sex, he passed out. His phone kept buzzing and buzzing. I wasn't tired of course, but the phone kept bothering me. I noticed phone #'s that looked familiar. I checked his voice mail, and come to find out., there were several messages from 3 different females, one saying she loved him, and the other is a girl that we worked with together 2years ago. (None of us work together now) He knows that I know something, but he has no clue its about the voicemails. I love him. What should I do? Keep my mouth shut about his affairs? ?

Children are NATURALLY hyper. It is your job as a parent to teach them how to focus and do learning teachniques that help them get involved. I WAS ALWAYS hyper as a child and still am. My childhood doctor tried to force my mom into getting me tested at 5 years of age. She refused and said I was hyper, because that's who I was. Low and behold, I'm now 21, pregnant with my first child and still hyper. BOTH OF MY PARENTS have high energy and are very hyper people. It doesn't automatically diagnose me with ADHD...also, I do sometimes have a hard time focusing, HOWEVER with self-discipline and training from my mother, I've learned how WITH NO MEDICATIONS. THANK YOU MOTHER for never forcing me to take a drug that subdues who I really am. I think that having a 3 year old placed on Ritalin for being hyper and "not-focusing" is absolutely bull...i can't believe parents are falling for this drug-laced society, where everyone is place on drugs for some new "condition"
