You don't "set a bedtime" for a baby that young. You follow their lead. You feed them when they are hungry and you put them to sleep when they are tired.

it not as hard as you think to set a bedtime for a 7 week old her are some tips. figure out when you would like for her to be on a set bedtime schedule. ok when it gets bedtime start with a warm bath about 30 min to an hour before the set time. make sure you have a peacful and quites enviroment around the house, try to keep talk and nosies levels down. have as much lights off as possible. i usually trun everything out except for the tv. and when she wakes up in the middle of the night keep the lights off except for a night light if you must need a light, and if you want to talk to oyour baby do it in wispers. but i have found it works best if you dont talk at all. i did this and my little girl is 6 months old and she goes to bed by herself, and is asleep no later than 8:30 each night. good luck

Start nursing the baby about the same time of the night every night. Then, if the baby acts at all hungry give them a bottle of breastmilk. My 11wk old has been doing this since she was 3wks old. Her bedtime is between 9p and 10p. It seems the little extra bit in the bottle fills her up enough to help her sleep 6-8hrs through the night. Also, swaddle the baby towards the end of the feeding, that lets them know it's time for bed.

Theres alot of controvesy over this but for me it worked wonderful.................... What I'd suggest is to pick a suitable time for your baby to have a (Nite Nite Bathe) and wash the baby up using the Johnsons Lavendar Body Wash because its very calming and soothing for your baby, and then give her a bottle of your breastmilk with at least an ounce and a half of Gerber rice cereal to make it thick and then put her to sleep. If you do this routine every night at the same time then your baby will eventually get used to the routine. Trust me my daughters 12 weeks now and she's been on a schedule since she was 8 weeks and she's never missed her 8pm bedtime and she hasn't woken up sooner than 6am since the cereal. Good luck with everything!!!

When a baby is about 3 months, they are ready for a "bedtime schedule". Till then, they feel the urge & need to eat every few hours. But by 3 months you can start introducing them to a teaspoon or 2 of cereal, mixed with formula before bedtime. That will help fill them up a bit more. Wait till then, if you think its hard now, just wait till they start teething... then getting around & into everything in sight. Enjoy this time while it lasts... trust me it goes too fast! Mine are now 11, 9, 4 1/2, & 9 months! Take care & best of luck ~Baddest

Baby is too young for a set schedule.
DO NOT TRY TO PUT YOUR BABY ON A SCHEDULE. A study found “ that many women experience success in schedule feeding their breastfed babies during the first couple of months. However, these women have an unusually high rate of milk supply failure around 3-4 months”

OK, so you thought that you could get the baby to fit into your life, huh? Wake up!!! You are going to have to get used to the fact that baby rules!!! I have had such a laugh at you question. You must be a rather young parent. Sorry, but that's the way it's going to be for a little while yet. Baby in charge!!! Let him eat and sleep when he wants. There will be time for a schedule later. Bedtime??? LOL!!! chuckling uncontrollably, tears in eyes. Good luck.

baby is most certainly NOT too young for a schedule, all dr's recommend you try to start getting baby on a schedule as soon as you come home. im a mom of 3, my youngest is now 9 weeks old and he sleeps all night and so did my other two because i put them down at the same time every night and they got use to that, i never layed them down with a bottle either or rocked them to sleep, i bundled them and layed them in there crib and they would lay there a few minutes cooing and end up falling asleep, babies do what they get use to doing and im proof of that. i lay mine down between 9 and 10.....most books say to do it between 7 and 8 but i like for my childs last feeding to be closer to 10

You don't really set a bedtime. You can't make a baby that young sleep on command.

You cannot set a "bedtime" for a 7 week old child. At 7 weeks, you are at the child's mercy. I'm sorry - but it will definitely get easier - Good Luck and enjoy it while you can.
