A virgin can actually breast feed. That's how they did it in the middle ages. The noble woman would just pick out the woman she wanted as a wet nurse. All you have to do is get the sucking infant on your breast, and the bond forming.

The answer is that its not unheard of in OB/GYN circles.

The most effective way to induce lactation would be to mechanically stimulate the nipple and breast. This constant suckling method is more likely to be successful in a woman who has had at least one kid and has already breast-fed, but it's not impossible in a woman who has never been pregnant.

Also there are drugs that can be used to induce breast milk in conjunction with mechanical stimulation: like antidopaminergic medicines such as metoclopramide (Reglan) and phenothiazines (antipsychotic medicines), nasal oxytocin, as well as priming with hormones for a week before trying the above two methods. However, all of these medicines have side effects, but Reglan is probably the safest and most effective. Sadly, none of these drugs can be obtained without a prescription, and it's unlikely your primary-care physician will give you Reglan for recreational use.

Even mothers who have breastfed previous babies may not ever be able to fully breastfeed an adoptive baby. A sensible goal, then, might be to try to provide some, or maybe most, of your new baby's nutrition yourself, while fully enjoying the closeness and bonding that breastfeeding brings. Even if your baby does not breastfeed, you can still hold him for all his feedings (and lots of holding in between!) and foster the same kind of attachment that all babies have for the mommies and daddies who love them.
