Pregnancy & Parenting - 30 December 2006

I am so confused, I am 5 weeks and one day pregnant. However, I am not sick to my stomache. I am tired, with sore breasts and extreme sensitive nipples, plus bloated. I am so nervouse I am gunna lose the baby... I also have some cramping, they feel like period cramps... and sometimes I have little jabbing pains on either side of my abs... I am not bleeding or anything, and it isn't anything that I can't handle... (not any worse than my period) i'm making myself go crazy over here.

hi!!! thanks for taking tha time to go over my question. I talk to my baby all the time and sing to him, i even found a radio station for babies, sometimes i feel like he gets tired of my and my voice and my face, and the secund issue is that everytime i leave my husband nd the baby alone even for a minute he starts to cry very hard to and i have to stop doing whatever im doing and come back to comfort him, what are some good tips to make my baby feel more comfortable with his dad, ( dad is starting to feel frudtrated and sad to see that he can not spend much time with his baby) thank you for all your answers, have a great day!!!!

I am desperate to be someone other than a mom for a short time. I have been - for the most part - a very dedicated and patient and loving mom for the last 3 1/2 years (my son is 3 1/2). Lately, I've been losing my temper more than I like. More importantly, I just don't seem to find any joy in being a parent anymore. I sit there feigning interest in playing with them, but I desperately want to be doing something more interesting.

I stopped breastfeeding the second child about a month ago (the 2 kids overlapped), so this is the first time it is actually possible for me to go away. I've got a break from teaching and my husband is willing to look after the kids while I go to India (one of my most favorite places ever) for a week. I feel like I would do my family much more good if I could replenish myself a bit and find my joy again. On the other hand, I fear that I could really damage my little girl, who - while she adores her daddy - is still fiercely attached to me. I'm torn.

I was asked to come up with an hourly rate for one child, and one for two children. I was thinking that 5 an hour for one child and 6 for two, because the one child I was asked to watch is a little difficult, and the two I was asked for are excellently behaved, so it would work out 3 an hour for each kid per hour. What does anyone think of this? What normal rates do you pay? What do you normally ask of parents per hour?

I mean, how often does one get to see the level of human of idiocy and self-absorbtion at that level?

The mothers themselves will naturally have no clue what I'm talking about, because they're caught up in the permanent trance of motherhood and self-preservation.

But surely anyone else looking from the outside in can testify to this.

How often have you seen a bunch of white mothers sitting together during their "brag orgies," pretending to listen to each other's "my kid did this stories?"

Or how often have you purposely wanted to rear-end some crappy American-made SUV with a "My kid is an Honor Student..." sticker?

There is nothing more fanatic than a white woman with children.

It's almost obscene.

My daughter is 4 and has not had a BM for 3 days. With the holidays, the doctor's office is not open. What should I do. I thought about giving her a laxative, but they take a while to work. My husband suggested an enema, but I don't feel that is the ight way of dealing with it. What do you think we should. Do you think we should give her an enema. If so, please tell me how to give one to a 4 y/o with out her being a pain. Please tell in detail each step from preperation to clean-up.

My boss keeps staring at my body (I'm pregnant.) Whenever he sees me, it seems like he focuses his eyes on my stomach and breasts and isn't even listening to what I'm saying. A few times, he's even said that I look beautiful.

I'm MARRIED! He knows that! I'm not attracted to him at all, but the fact that he is so turned on by my pregnant body is a little disturbing. Do you know what I could say or do to deterr him?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my second child. I was overwhelmed with morning sickness the first time around, but this time I haven't really had any. Also, the only real symptoms I have is the missed period, face breakouts, and serious fatigue. I had a miscarriage 3 months ago. I'm not cramping with this one like I did then, but I'm still worried. What do you think?

hi im 41 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I had my membrane sweep 3 days ago and this morning at 4.30am i woke up with back pains and painful contractions across my lower abdominal area. They averaged at every 8 minutes then slowed right down after about 2 and half hours of pain. they never totally vanished just went to 15 minutes and less painful then this afternoon i had the same again every 8 minutes on average and the pain lasting around 1 minute each time. Now they have slowed again and are about 10 minutes apart. My friend said there is such thing as slow labour but im confused. I know its not braxton hicks as i had really hard ones since 4 months an the difference is really obvious. can labour start off irregular? and how long does it take for contractions to speed up? please any advice as im confused.

Last month, my ex and I hooked up again and had sex while I was on my period. After a while, he asked me if the condom came off...he pulled out and it wasn't on him anymore. I went into the bathroom and pulled it out. I don't think he came in me. A month later, I find that my period is about two weeks late. Could I be pregnant? I have two children, my 7-year-old daughter Lily and my 5-year-old son Tom. One day during before Christmas, we finished dinner and left the dishes stacked up at the kitchen sink. I decided to train my son Tom to clean the dishes, but just as I started my wife stopped me. My wife is Christian and because the bible states that women must serve men she therefore believes Tom cannot be exposed to dishwashing, which was, as she said, "a woman's job." Instead, my little girl Lily had to do the dishes, and she wasn't happy with that.

I don't mind if my wife does the dishes. The problem is that she almost never does them and expects Lily to do them. She doesn't even accept help from me or Tom.

One night I spoke to my wife. She told me that not only were these gender rules important for religion but they were also important for Tom's future. She claims that when Tom grows up he will never be able to get a girlfriend if he serves her.

Is this true? Is there evidence that women want this?

I had a misscarrige in august 06 and 3 months later was taken into hospital with extremely heavy bleeding and I was told I had an infection and they gave me two different types of antibiotics. Now 2 weeks later I am bleeding again (which I am assuming is my normal period) but it is so heavy and quite painful. Has this happened to anyone else? Will my period be like this everytime from now on?
