I had a misscarrige in august 06 and 3 months later was taken into hospital with extremely heavy bleeding and I was told I had an infection and they gave me two different types of antibiotics. Now 2 weeks later I am bleeding again (which I am assuming is my normal period) but it is so heavy and quite painful. Has this happened to anyone else? Will my period be like this everytime from now on?

I had an ultrasound when they first found the infection and they said i didnt need a D&C as there was only a small amount of tissue to come away. I need to go back to my GP I am so scared this whole thing will prevent me getting pregnant again.

Go to your doctor for factually correct advice. This is too serious a matter to take a chance with.

Go to your doctor. I experienced this earlier this year. I went through 2 infections after my miscarriage and had to have a d&c my periods started out extremely heavy when they finally came back but after a few months lightened up a bit. But I say go to your doc after your period ends and see if everything is ok you might have gotten another infection or it may just be normal it's better to know than wonder.

hi... did you have a d&c? i had this a few years ago.

i had retained tissue and got a infection so had to get another d&c to remove the retained tissue
i was really ill due to the infection and after visiting my doctor i was sent straight to the hospital and had the d&c done same day.

after a course of antibiotics i was fine again.

i bled for over a month however , and my period returned 6 weeks after and was heavy and painfull but the month after that it was normal again

everyone is different , however please go and see your doctor as if you do have retained tissue it will have to be removed

hope everything gets better soon for you

god bless

Definitely see a doctor. You may still have some tissue attached. My sister miscarried when she was 15 and didn't realize she had a problem for about a year and a half and now she can't have any kids because the infection was so bad.
Good luck with the infection.
I hope all is well with you.

It can take a few months to go back to a normal cycle, but you should speak with your doctor as you have had an infection in the past.

Did they do an ultrasound to be sure you do not still have retained tissue?

sorry to hear about your ordeal.. our bodies all go through different changes when there is trauma. You body needs to readjust. Give it some time. You may want to stay in contact with your obgyn on a weekly basis for your own reassurance. Heavy bleeding is never good.. talk to your doctor.

after this period go to your Ob/Gyn and get them to flush your uterus. Thats what you should have gotten done after the miscarrage
