To expand upon rachel p's question.

If Monkies never let their babies cry it out, because it would attract predators, and no other animals think twice before responding to their babies needs (Can you imagine momma bird sitting their chicks squeak saying "Nope, 15 more minutes before I feed you") And yet all animals end up self-sufficient and non-clingy.

Also crying it out is a relatively new form of parenting, and is hardly practiced world wide. Many societies practice attached parenting almost exclusively.

Why can't you, at least accept that crying it out or controlled crying may not be the ONLY way to raise a respectful well behaved child that will grow into a responsible, independent adult?

Why must you, at every opportunity say that crying is the ONLY way? Do you really believe that every other way is wrong?

ITS NO PROBLEM WHEN IM WITH HER BUT WHEN I HAVE THINGS TO DO AT HOME IT GETSA LITTLE HARD FOR ME. I REALLY DONT WANT HER TO BE A SAD BABY THAT JUST LAYS THERE, I WANT HER TO HAVE FUN EVEN WHEN SHE IS NOT PLAYING WITH MOM OR DAD.

Is there anything I can do late in pregnancy to help alleviate the sciatic nerve pain and charlie horses in the feet and cramps and pain every time I move? I talked to doc and they said this is not unusual but wondered if anyone out there may have come up with some ideas that can help them cope. I'm too active for bedrest!

It seems as though so many parents just don't want to deal with their children so they just leave them to cry themselves to sleep or whatever. It seems as though the best parents are those who find a middle ground: their children are learning and well behaved and nurtured and loved, not crying!

I am not taking birth control however always use protection during sex... but I skipped my period for the month of November & have taken 3 pregnancy tests which have all been negative. However I have had cramping & stomach pains as well as feeling as if I was going to throw up for the past few weeks- yet I have never actually vomitted nor do I have any other pregnancy signs. Some have said that the cramps are most likely from skipping my period & my body's just confused, & it is common to skip periods due to stress. However I haven't received my period for the month of Decmeber yet either... I am seeing a doctor on Tuesday, but just curious if anyone has any advice/ suggestions/ comments?

Which is safer? I heard that it's safer and more effective for a man to have a vasectomy than a woman to get her tubes tide. Is this true?

Okay I have been charting BBT since the middle of September. Here are my last month temps and present month temps (so far):

Hubby and I have been half-way thinking about trying to concieve. I had sex on day 10 (unprotected) and days 11 and 12 (mostly protected). Fertilityfriend.com says that I ovulated on day 14. It's now day 20 and mostly today I have had a slight cramping in my lower abdomen (below my belly button). It's been kind of off and on all day today. It's not very painful or anything, but it is there. I was wondering if this could be implantation cramping? Has anyone ever had this and been pregnant and what do you think my chances of being pregnant are? I am due for period in 9 days. Thanks in advance!

I have never understood why a mother would not give her baby her milk. We are the only species who refuses it's offspring Mother's milk. I know a lot of women say they "couldn't" breastfed for whatever reason. But being a lactation consultant I know that 99% of these "reasons" are easily correctable. So... I'm just curious to know why women choose not to breast feed their infants... even though they know human breast milk is best for human babies ... ??

She is 17 months old and very used to waking up in the middle of the night for a nice, warm milk bottle. She only drinks a bottle at naptime (water) and for bed (water) and milk in the middle of the night. I think she wakes up hungry, even though she always has a snack right before bed.

i found out only a few days ago that i am a little over 5months pregnant. this was an unplanned pregnancy, and i've been told my options are now limited. i was also told that no doctors would see me because i haven't had any prenatal care yet. if anyone is in the atlanta area and knows of a doctor where i can get a prenatal exam and what all it involves, that would be great. i am just so lost on what to do.

I'm in this 'super long names' phase and I want your opinion on some of the combos it's produced. I'm warning you, they're a little out there.

Caroline Annabet Serafina Fern
Charlotte Suzanna Persephone Jane
Elspeth Clementine Leanora Kate
Isabel Augusta Imogen Anne

Now honestly, is it way too much? If so, what names would you take out to shorten the combos?

I am nearly 5 months pregnant and on 75mg daily of Effexor XR and have been for about 2 years, my doctor is a bit of a twit IMHO but after years of trial and error I have found Effexor works for me. I have decided to stay on this dosage while pregnant and have found some information that is positive on pregnancy and breastfeeding, my doc says I should not nurse but I really want to and feel the benefits outway the risks, BUT I am always scouring for new info, does anyone have further info on breastfeeding on Effexor XR?

I'm 38 weeks on tuesday and my baby has not dropped yet. THis is my first baby and i'm wondering how long does the head need to be engaged or crowning for before i go into labour. I'm really annoyed because i think my baby is going to come late. Today was my estimated due date by one of my ultrasounds but i strongly doubt he will come any time now. It's really annoying having to wait

I am desperately trying to get my one year old to go to sleep in his crib on his own, without me having to rock or walk with him until he goes to sleep. I have tried letting him cry, I have tried staying in the room, playing the same music, same bedtime routine every night, lights on, lights out, white noise, rice bottle, etc, etc, etc. I try to stick to my guns and not pick him up and rock him, but after 2 hours I am so frustrated I am crying. What can I do?
