Pregnancy & Parenting - 6 November 2006

My daughter, 6, has play-dates with a boy in her class. They get along great and I am perfectly comfortable with them playing together. I was caught off-guard when the boy's mother called and asked how I felt about a sleepover. I didn't really know how to respond. What are your thoughts?

my daughter whose just 1 1/2 has learnt too many manners whenver she sneezes she'll say excuse me, or if i sneeze she'll come to check whether i say it or not then she'll say mumma "god bless you". her thank you and sorries just keep on n on but the most embarrassing one is when we go out she'll start correcting or pinpoint people when they forget their manners people say its very cute but i find it embarrasing what if someone someday does'nt like it? she's too particular and a great observer i just don't understand what and how to tell her not to do this .

My wife and I are going through a divorce and the pretrial is in 3 weeks, untill then she will not let me...?
visit our newborn son unsupervised and since I dont agree with that I dont visit. I do have a drug and drinking problem that has led to my arrest and hospitalization but I have been sober for 3 months and holding a steady job. I have not seen my son in 3 weeks and when I last asked to bring him to my house she refused because she does not like my family and thinks I am not sober. What do you think? I also have quit handing her cash because I will only buy baby supplies....if she asks...what should I do? I am asking the judge for joint custody, I live with my mother and want my son to visit me there...do you think the judge will agree? I also have a personality disorder, does this matter?

my daughter is 20 month old she's not walking ,we've got all the tests done everythings coming normal,it's just that she tilts her right foot very little when she's attempting to walk can that be concerning, she takes some 20-30 steps without support she stands on her own for like a minute or two but not more than that i'm not able to understand whether this is lack of confidence or whats happening we try playing games with her all day long so that she walks , what do i do to encourage her i'm really worried,is there something wrong?am i forcing her too much? when i see other kids walk and meet other parents they keep pointing that she's old enough to walk perfectly and there's some problem with the baby. blah blah....please help please if anybody has any knowledge on this one or had a similar problem please write it'll mean a lot

I cannot find a boy name that I like :( I would like to use the middle name "Joseph" or "Gale" because it is somewhat of a family tradition. I want something somewhat unique, but not too out there (I have a friend that debated on naming her son "Crazy Horse". I am not joking) Any ideas?? THANKS!!! :)

I've read a million different answers online to this question but figured i would see what other women have to say...I know everone is different...I am experiecing tender and slightly sore breasts, not so much the breast itself but around my whole chest area...sore to the touch.... its only been a week since i could have conceived (presuming i ovulated my 14th day of my cycle). My period isnt due for another 8 days so i dont believe any test will come up positive....yet... MY QUESTION IS, can sore breast be present only 1 week after possible conception?? Some say yes and some say about 2 weeks after a missed period...We have had unprotected sex only about 4 or 5 times this month including my obvulatory day..(Hopefully!) Please share expierences!

My baby is 8 months old and she just started drinking less. She use to drink 4-5 ounces every 2-3 hours. But now when i feed her she will just drink maybe 2-3 ounces every 2-4 hours. When i try to feed her the rest she will just keep her mouth closed real tight so i cant put the bottle in. Or else she will just bend back and start getting fussy. Has this ever happened to any of your babies? Is it becuase she rather have baby food now? She takes her baby food but not her milk as much any more..

Do you wish your parents would have helped you get on birth control before it was too late? I know you wouldn't trade your baby for nothing in the world, but wouldn't it have been easier to wait a few years, like after high school? Daughter is sneeking out of her fathers house at night to go see boys. She says she just makes out and is still a virgin, but come on. We all know what happens eventually. Daughter doesn't want to be on birth control, but we told her that would be the responsible thing to do. Her father agrees. Should I take her in and make her get on it or what do you think?

My periods usually occur between days 26-33 but usually never exactly 26 days apart or never exactly 33 days apart....I was told that it is possible that I am not ovulating if I am not havIng periods at the same time every month..But everything I’ve read says that while yes you can have an anovulatory period where you still bleed even though you didn’t ovulate, that it is usually only once a year or so that a woman has this happen….So why am I being told by people that it is possible to have a period every month and to have never ovulated? I would assume that even if you did bleed during an anovulatory bleeding that it wouldn’t be as heavy as a regular period and mine can be pretty heavy at times…So I just want to hear from anyone that might have some knowledge about anovulatory periods that might be able to explain this to me a little better. Thanks!!!

Do you think two weeks is enough time from the time you had sex-to tell-- Some say yes and some say no... Is 14days long enough for your body to hafve enough of the pregnancy hormone for the test to get a postive?

My 14 month old was crying the other day and I picked him up. He arched his back and I thought he was about to let out a wail, but he was passed out!!! I turned him over to his tummy thinking maybe he was choking (he wasn't) and he started breathing again. No problems since then. He's just been diagnoesed w/ asthma. Should I call his pediatrician? What could ahve casued that, other than him holding his breath, which he really wasn't doing. Thanks!

I told my boss I was pregnant and He asked a bunch of questions like are you coming back? Where you planning this? and how long do you think you'll be out? I understand his concern but is that legal. He was like we just put you through the management program and alot of money was put into that he seemed Mad or some thing I just got promoted 4 months ago and I am 3 weeks out of training.I feel kinda violated and what if I didn't want to come back I would be demoted over the phone or some thing. I told him I was but what If I really dont want to. and find some thing easier for my family to work around. I work crazy hours and they wont comply with raising a child. What do I do and was that right of him?

I have had sharp abdominal pain in the left hand side. I think it feels like period pain but I am not due for my period till tomorrow.
I stopped taking the pill on the 6th of October in hopes of falling pregnant, and I went to the doctor and the doctor said I could be ovulating at any point.
I had niggering pains last monday too but not this bad.
Do you think this could possibly be implaintation pains?
