If she's eating more than she had been she will want less milk.
At her age there is also the chance that she could be getting a tooth or teeth, which will make her gums sore and make her resist the bottle. Sometimes, too, if the nipple gets old babies won't use it. Some babies also get so they don't like milk.
If she's eating enough to get enough nutrition it may not be so bad that she won't drink as much milk, but I would worry about the amount of fluid (of any sort) she is getting in any given day.
Since it may appear to you she's losing weight it seems like you should really talk to her pediatrician about it. Not all babies have chunkier legs, so even the appearance that her legs appear to be a little thinner may not be a big problem. Still, it is obviously a sign that she may not be gaining the right amount of weight.
Something you could try is holding a small paper cup (Dixie cup) for her and seeing if she drinks more. You could also try a straw. If her gums are sore she may be more likely to drink that way (and you'd be surprised at how young they can be and know how to use a straw).

Hmm...is he eating other baby foods (solids)?? If he isn't drinking formula, then be sure to give him three solid meals a day and vitamins to make up for the nutrients he is missing out from not drinking formula. Obviously it is a good idea to consult with your pediatrician about this as well. Is it just that he doesn't like the taste? Refuses to eat? Some babies don't want to drink from a bottle and prefer a sippy cup or straw...maybe try that. Another baby I know wouldn't drink it from anything but a spoon! Yes it took forever for a feeding but she would drink it that way! Good luck..

Babies that eat solids take less formula/breast milk. As long as she is maintainging her weight and is wetting and pooping as usual dont worry about it. Might also be a phase. As with all kids even babies go through phases. My 5 month old wouldnt eat more then 2 ounces a few weeks back now he's back to the usual consumption of 4 ounces of formula when he has his solids and 6 ounces without soilds. If the number of diapers she is soiling decreases, she cries and has no tears, or is losing weight you need to take her to the dr.

My baby's doctor insured me that it doesnt matter how much food they are eating as long as they get the formula. My Emma is 8 months old and eats 2 jars of baby food at a time 3 times a day and in between has 2-4 ounces of formula she is in the 50th percentile for her age and is very active. I thought she was loosing weight when she started eating this way, but it wasn't that at all. She was gaining weight but it was being followed by her height. Im sure it is nothing to worry about and if you are real worried about it weigh her yourself. First take your weight and then hold her and take both of yours. I'm sure you get the picture. Don't stress untill you know for sure, and then keep a level head. Im sure its nothing..

That happened to my daughter. There are various reasons for this to happen. 1, is she sick? If babies don't feel good, they drink less. 2, solid food fills her tummy up. 3, she just wants to play and explore the world... fascination and discovery stage, which is what happened to my baby. Eventually she'll start to drink more again. When this happened to me, I went to the ER to make sure (weekend). All they told me is that as long the baby is hydrated, she's fine. So basically I made sure she have something to drink... even if it's just 2 oz of milk every two hrs. But if she's taking her baby food fine, maybe it's just that she's full. Babies have small tummies.

Why is she still getting a bottle so often? At 8 months, baby should be on all sorts of baby foods and cereal's now. If she isn't, maybe that's the problem...she's sick of formula! Plus, it's time to start introducing a sippy cup because by 12 months the bottle should be gone completely. Have you had conversations about her eating with her doctor?

It sounds to me that your baby is ready for some variety. Give drinks after meals. Switch between milk and juice. She doesn't necessarily need to drink every couple hours let her tell you when she is thirsty. Your her mom you will know. Baby food is a plus. As long as she is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping you have nothing to worry about. Weight fluctuates. Your baby is getting bigger now. She is learning. You will be able to tell when she is hungry and when she is thirsty (reaching for bottles, a certain cry , you will know). Don't force her. Juice is good for babies( watered down half water half juice). Be careful though apple and pear juices are known to cause diarrhea ( use these when you think they are constipated) otherwise stick to the others.

As babies hit this age they are more active and need less liquid nourishment, perhaps more textured foods to keep her interested with sips of liquid in between bites. She will naturally thin out because she is growing and more active. If she is acting letheragic or running a fever, stuffy nose or pulling at her ears, consult her doc. Sometimes babies are more interested in their surrounding world then sitting still and drinking. She will drink when she is thirsty but keep track of actual ounces consumed and consult with doc if your concerned.

My 8 month old is doing the same thing. He's more into eating the solid foods. We mix about 2 oz of his formula with oatmeal cereal and feed that to him. This gives him solid food and the formula(he also drinks about 4 oz of formula) several times per day.
