I work at a convenience store and see many people everyday. I also have a daughter with down syndrome. When I see people with children who have downs also, how should I approach them? I like to see how other people's children are doing developmentally, but am unsure on how to go about approaching a complete stranger. I need some tips please!

A young girl in my boy's kindergarden class habitually singles out my son and another young man to pick on. Each morning when I take him to class, the class is all lined up outside the door waiting for the teacher to arrive, and sitting on the right side of the door. This little priss box finds it necessary to tell my boy and the other young man that they have to sit alone on the left side, by themselves.

There is a basket of books outside the class for the kids to pick up and read/look at while they wait. Every book my son or the other boy selects, the girl has to get up and object to them having. Today's excuse was the books they picked was for girls. Yesterday, they couldn't have any books because "she said so".

Obviously, I'm not going to talk to this little girl. It's not my place, plus I know I'll say something that'll make her cry. So, I've spoken to the teacher. It has not helped. It's worse IN the class when I am not present, and my son tells me. What to do?

I have a 9 year old boy who lately can't fall asleep fast. He's always wondering what time I am going to bed. He doesn't want to be up alone. I think he's tired but he won't sleep until later on. Any advice?

I've been asking questions about pregnancy tests on here for the past few days, and so many people have answered with really good advice. So I have one more.....I have been taking tests because my husband is convinced that I'm pregnant, but I don't feel it, and since this would be my fifth pregnant I think I would know by now....right? Anyway, I took one on wed. said yes, then one said no, then yesterday morning with the first morning pee said no, but yesterday afternoon said yes, and now the same brand I used yesterday afternoon says yes again.....so because I feel like this is my first tiem all over again with all the damned tests.....what do you guys think? Only one brand keeps saying yes and the other name brands say no.....soooooo???

My daughter just found out she's pregnant with her 2nd child. Her daughter's name is Tierney and she wants to find another T name for a boy and/or girl. I picked out her daughter's name and since she likes unusual names I thought I'd pass on some of your suggestions. I told her I like Terissa for a girl, but only unusual boy names I came up with are Trey, Taylor, Tyler (already have a girl Tyler in the family), and Tanner. We already have a Tristan and a Trevor in the family so those are out too. So feel free... TIA

My daughter seriously wants it everywhere. In her room, wearing pink clothes, etc. It is her favorite color. Why does she like it so much?

There are sure a lot of baby and pregnancy questions on here and it seems like everyone in my neighborhood is young and having babies. Has anyone heard that there is a baby boom going on in the U.S. as of late?

I posted this at night a while back---thought I'd see how the day crowd took it.

I don’t understand why everyone gives teenagers who are pregnant so much sympathy just because of the situation they put themselves in! What is up with that? I do not believe in stereotyping anyone--especially teenage mothers but why give them sympathy? I don’t care about anyone’s age, it seems to me people on here who are young mothers or are young and pregnant always put “I’m 16 and…” Why should we care how old they are to answer their questions? You don’t see some one write “Hi, I’m 32 and…” Are pregnant teens trying to get sympathy or attention because of their age? I think a lot of teenagers put a really bad reputation out there for themselves and others in the same situation---therefore creating and adding to stereotypes . What are your feeling on this?

I also should add--I was pregnant with my first at seventeen--I'm nineteen now--just for judgment's sake.

i had a very hard time at first, she got the "good stuff" i guess, but i really wanted to continue, breasts formed little "scabs" milk didn't come out when engorged?, she acted like she was starving, also the nurses gave me little 2 oz bottles to supplement with at like 2 days old, i think big mistake, shes been solely bottle feeding for 5-6 weeks but i can still squeeze my nipples and get a tiny drop or two of clear stuff then some white, i tried pumps wks ago, only got like a teaspoon to come out, gave up, can i get it to come back? remember i'm pretty much flat chested on right side and a bit more on left, it also had more milk, when filled up and hard/sore i still didn't fill an A cup ??

Kids, if you are home, either go to school or do something constructive! Here's a thought, why not help Mom and Dad around the house rather than giving yourself a bad rep on here! Thanks for letting me get that out, y'all.

i just bought my daughter a new puppy for her 9th birthday...

i let her name him, and i guess since she isnt very original she decided to name him "blacky" because of his dark fur.

how do i explain to her that this is completely inappropriate? some people would be EXTREMELY offended at that name, and the dog certainly does not deserve to be given a label like that.

dont get me wrong, my daughter isnt racist, she just isnt very sensitive to other peoples' feelings.

Step-parent question re relationship with custodial minor and adult stepchildren being disrespectful got this comment: “You are too late in the game to instill discipline. This would be tough on a step parent trying to do the right thing. But really they don’t have a say. Especailly to a 20 yr old ADULT." I think it would be just opposite. When step kid is an adult the stepparent has a LOT OF SAY! Step kid or not, at 20 yrs old, I now I have an additional grown man living in my home! When the step-kid is 18 + the step parent is no longer put in a position of trying to instill discipline them, but is simply commanding respect from another ADULT. If I don't like the 18+’s disrespectful language towards me I should be able to say so. If I don't want their big, stinky feet on my coffee table I can say so freely. At this age any conflict in the home has zero to do with “discipline”. Conflict now are to let a disrespectful, sponging GROWN-UP know that they are about to be thrown out.

at what age should i stop bathing my children together? we have a large bathtub, and since my son and daughter were little we would always have them take a bath together.

it saves me time, and water, and no one seems to mind... but since girls mature faster than boys, my son has started asking, innocently, why his sister is growing breasts...

when will he figure this out? i figured his friends would have talked with him about girls by now, and im concerned he might become a homosexual if he isnt informed.
