PLEASE HELP! MY SON IS 9 WEEKS OLD TODAY. HE HAS HAD DIARREHA FOR 10 DAYS WITH ABOUT 12 DIAPERS A DAY! HIS STOOL IS GREEN AND SMELLS AWFUL. LAST NIGHT IT HAD MUCUS IN IT. WE HAVE BEEN TO THE PEDIATRICIAN TWICE. HE TESTED NEGATIVE FOR ROTOVIRUS AND HIS LABS WERE ALL NORMAL. HAS ANYONE EVER GONE THROUGH THIS? WHAT SHOULD I DO TO HELP HIM? I AM A FIRST TIME MOM AND VERY NERVOUS, ANY ADVICE IS VERY APPRECIATED.

Perhaps its a reaction to the Soy Formula.
For diarrhea, my doctor had recommended Isomil DF (diarrhea formula) -- mix 1/2 half of it with 1/2 of regular formula during feedings:
So if your son is taking 4 ounces - 2 ounces Isomil 2 ounces Soy.
You may want to consider taking your son to the ER for further testing if you feel your pediatrician is wrong.
I cannot recall the age for Pedialyte - but if its okay to be administered, give him about 2 ounces every 2 hours to keep him hydrated.

Of course, keep the fluids going!!! There is no reason why a baby shouldn't have water so give water in between bottles of formula. Are you breastfeeding? Breastmilk tends to cause the stool you're describing and that is normal. 12 times a days is not normal though. So your baby may be lactose intolerant. But first, try switching to a formula with extra iron in it. If that doesn't work, switching to a lactose free formula would be a great idea. Soy formula is for the most finicky babies. Be sure to keep the fluids down though, but only water or formula.

Make sure he's getting plenty of fluids. Is he breastfeed or bottle? If he's breast feed then it might be something in your diet, also you might want to supplement with pediasure or gatorade to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated, but if he looks fine then keep breastfeeding. If he's on formula, then switch, he might not agree with whatever the formula is. I would also call the doctor and let him know that he had mucus in his diaper last night. You don't want your baby to have diarreha for so long.

That is way too long for a baby to have diarrhoea for that long. I am surprised that your doctor hasn't done more. I would suggest that if you don't like what your doctor is telling you to find a new doctor. Maybe even pop into the hospital.
It may just be a reaction to something like his formula, but to be on the safe side I would seek other advice from a professional.
Babies get dehydrated very quickly. Don't mess around with this.

Sounds like it could be the parasite giardia, a little single celled organism. It's easy to get as it's found in the soil and water here in the U.S. If your son had a viral infection it would have been gone in about 10 days.
My doctor also did not correctly diagnose me when I got giardia. It was my mom, a retired nurse, who pointed me toward a parasitic infection. It took me about a month to diagnose. Once diagnosed I simply took a pill for a few days and it went away immediately.
Maybe your son has this, maybe not, but it's worth researching his symptoms. I've added a link below.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Sounds like the baby is dehydrated. If your pediatrician doesn't do anything else, you had better go to another pediatrician. This is not normal. Changing the formula is a good start, but it's not working. You may need to change it again.

has your pediatrician tested him for anything else? diarreha for 10 days is way too long so i hope you are able to get fluids into him otherwise he should be admitted to the hospital and put on an IV to stay hydrated!

Take him back to the doctor before he gets dehydrated! Demand that they do domething to prevent dehydration. Sometimes docs will try to tell you it's first time mom nerves - tell them to shove it and demand it, otherwise you get walked all over!

I'd find another doctor. Your baby could dehydrate very quickly at that age.
