First, I am not talking about second hand smoke, so please don't tell me that you smoke outside, or never around your child, because that is not the question.

I think everyone knows that the most powerful teaching method we have with children in “leading by example” or “role modelling”. A parent who smokes is teaching their kid(s) that smoking is not only acceptable, but that their protector/provider considers smoking an activity of value. You can tell your kids not to smoke until your blue in the face (and black in the lungs) but your actions speak much louder than words. And, since our most powerful sense is smell, not sight, your kid(s) does not need to see you smoke to know you smoke. Essentially, smokers are teaching their kids how to kill themselves.

Please do not throw at me comparisons with other substance abuse issues, or things that are worse than smoking, because that is not my question. My question is:

If a smoker is role modelling behaviour for their kid(s) that can potentially kill them, is that not totally irresponsible? If not, why not?

She gave birth to our mostly healthy baby girl back in December 2 months prematurely. Towards the end of April of this year, my wife miscarried 3 months into her pregnancy. Come to find out, she is now pregnant once again.

What are the chances that she could miscarry or have this child prematurely again? (just so she and I can be ready for anything?)

I can feel my baby move all the time. But I can't establish between kicks or punches and I don't think I've felt the sensations of the baby turnign from side to side or doing any kind of front or back flips.

When other place their hands on ym stomach they can feel my baby moving. However, they too are unsure of what body part they are feeling.

Sometimes I can even catch my stomach changing shape slitghtly...nothing drastic...but I can tell

I just wanted to know when will I be able to tell a foot from an elbow from my child buttocks to his spine???

I have a nine year old son who I love more then anything. I am not his biological father, but have been there since the day he was born. As far as he knows I am his real father and have always been. Me and his mother were together for 9 1/2 years, but went our different ways. I try to see him as much as I can (and his mother wants me to see him) but my girlfriend only wants him coming over every two weeks. Even with that we get into it eachtime. My girlfriend is also 3 months pregnant. If it wasn't for that I would have left her because my son is more important. I will not let him grow up with out a father. I am wondering what I should do? Either way I will lose....

I am 23 weeks 2 days today. I know it can be heard with a regular sethescope but if you think about it ...if someone leans against my upper chest they can hear my heartbeat just fine without a sethescope... I wanted to know if the same is possible for hearing the heartbeat of your unborn child??

If it is possible around how many weeks do you have to be???

Okay, I have looked at many many car seat online and at the store. I have read tons of reviews, and I think I have decided to buy the Britax Roundabout. I read some reviews where people were complaining about the Britax Marathon crotch strap (that holds the buckle) not being long enough, and I was wondering if any of you had the same problem with the Roundabout. I looked at it in the store, and the strap seemed kind of short, and I don't think it had the ability to be adjusted. I was wondering if anyone who owns this seat could let me know if they have any problems with it. I just want to double check before I spend $220 on this seat. I was thinking about the Evenflo Titan also, but my infant seat was an evenflo, and the straps always got twisted, and the Titan has the same sort of buckle system. However, the Evenflo seat has the ablity to adjust the crotch strap.

She just turned six months old on June 24th. Everything that I have read says that she should be responsive to her parents by now. But it seems to me that she hardly ever does. My wife and I will be playing her, beckoning her to do her "shuffle-crawl" and come to us, but she does not always respond when we call her name. We had her tested a short while after her birth, and the doctors believe she is partially deaf in her left ear. Upon observing her these last couple months, however, I do not think that partial deafness is the case, as she does respond on occasion.

Could there be something wrong with my daughter? Is there something I can do to get her to respond?

We have a three year old daughter, she is used to sleep in her bed room from day 1, but recently since 6 months she started coming back to our bed room in the night. We tried almost every thing tried to tell stories before she slips to sleep, carried her back to her room after she comes in the night. Some time she walks back 3-4 times until we stop shifting her back to her room.
I think she is subconsciously thinking that she is sleeping in different room, What can we do as parents to help her get over that habit.
Any suggestions would help us. Thanks in advance
