there is not difinitive answer on this one.. It depends primarily on your weight and the size of the baby. the best time to tell is when you are lying flat on your back, when you see a pointy or angled point to your belly, this is most likely the buttobks, but to be real sure you need to be further along, i'd say 34-35 weeks when the baby is larger and stronger. also, it gets easier to determine with each pregnancy... Hope this help and congratulations

No, not really. Baby is about the size of a pinhead right now. When you are newly pregnant and excited you often imagine you are feeling much more than is really going on. My first few weeks after I knew I was pregnant I thought I had nausea, I thought I could feel my uterus, I thought I was tired. Don't worry - you WILL feel all these things, in time. For now, enjoy feeling normal. It might be a long time before you do again.

it's really difficult to tell what body parts of your baby are doing what, especially just a little over half way through pregnancy. The baby is inside an amniotic sack, surrounded with fluid, and the swell of your belly incorporates all of that. You really ar never going to see a clear outline of a part and go "oh, that looks like an elbow"
An ultrasound can show you how your baby is positioned at that point in time, and it will help you tie sensations to the baby's position... but that's about all you're gonna get.

I'm on my third baby, and I never did feel any body parts. You always assume a foot is kicking you or that you are rubbing it's little butt, but you never really can tell. I've never heard of anyone being able to establish body parts while the baby is moving inside the belly. That would be cool, though.

Definitely by 7 months. You'll feel the baby kick and can tell if it's a foot, elbow, etc...
One time while I was pregnant, I had one of those drinks from Jamba Juice with a power boost and my baby was doing kickboxing in my stomach. = )

At the last of my 7th month and on I could make out legs and feet. Although, my dr. did have to tell me which direction he was facing, then detecting what body parts were what was easy. He showed me a lot of his shins and feet and once and awhile a knee! One time my husband laid on my tummy and JUST @ that moment, my son kicked him in the head! It was crazy funny! Congratulations! And best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy!

it is really difficult to tell the difference between your child's foot, hand, etc. until the end of your pregnancy and then it is rare.
