I know it happens, although I don'tknow anyone personally. When I had my tubes tied, my docs went over all that with me (it's not a guarantee, it's as effective as birth control which means it's like 98.9% effective). It's rare, but it does occur. Tubal ligations which result in pregnancy also often have a high incidence of ectopic (tubal) pregnancies. These are very dangerous to a mother and almost almost never never viable pregnancies. If you're afraid you're pregnant, you need to go to the doc right away to rule something like that out.

Yes. It can happen. I know one woman who got pregnant a few months after her tubes were tied but the pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

My mother in law did. She ended up pregnant with a tubal pregnancy though, because of the tied tubes.

A friend of mine who is a teacher had her tubes tied after her fifth child. One year later, she was pregnant with twins!! She was, needless to say, pretty upset. Her OB told her he would not charge her for her prenatal care or her delivery...he wouldn't charge her anything at all. I thought this was pretty cool of him since it wasn't his "fault." Like any other medical procedure, there are risks, possibilities of complications, and the possibility of the procedure failing. My friend was glad to have the pregnancy "paid" for but couldn't help wonder who would "pay" for the next 22 years for her twins!
I think people who are meant to be born, are meant to be born, regardless of tied tubes or snipped vas deferenses!

I had a friend who did, but this was about 22 years ago. All they did back then was cut and tie the tubes, usually today they cut and burn the ends. At least the Dr. didn't charge her for the delivery.

Yes, it all depends on which method was used for the tubal. cut, burn, tie, clamp. some doctors just cut and tie which can work lose over time, and your ovaries still work, so you could get pregnant. some just clamp which can also come lose, the most final is burning or cauterizing with clamps, which damages the tissue and then clamps off the tube.

Yes, I got pregnant after nine years, out of five children, this one was the most stressful for me. Had morning sickness to the end, lost and gain weight
like crazy.....but at the end it was the perfect birth....even though I didn't make it to the hospital. He was born in front of the Police Station and it was ALMOST pain free. Weighted 7lb 7oz...thank God for little blessings.
