The person who was stripped of her license to practice law for smuggling instructions to known terrorists from their blind sheik leader is going to address students at Hofstra U. about legal ethics, a subject she obviously knows nothing about, or cares nothing about. Isn't that like taking advice on a sucessful marraige from the most famous cheater in the world?

In a recent question I asked about Clinton and JFK, eluding to their sex lives, and many women thought their sex life wasn't a factor in their decision that both were quality men.

Yeah, run that by me again?

So if a democrat President can get side action - do they condone side action of their significant others?

One would think it's jolly okay and almost a requirement!

Please debate.

Many were gullible enough to believe it in 2006.

Why single out certain crimes and make them hate crimes? The underlying acts are already crimes. Just because they are directed at a religion, race or sexual identity, should the punishment be stiffer or different from the underlying crime? Isn't this liberal pandering when the acts constitution the hate crime are already prohibited.
OR, is this some new class of crime that would not be illegal but for the hate crime legislation?

When people talk about war, they tend to say there was always war and there will always be war. Beyond that there is not much thinking about what we as human beings can do to decrease those deadly conflicts. Other than taking a military response, is there something else that can be done that isn't being done? I would like to hear any innovative ideas.

As a socialist, I am constantly surprised and irritated when in political discussions I hear or read this. Do they think that acknowledging any problems with capitalism at all helps socialism (even liberal-style "yes, but…" acknowledgments), or are they just the right-wing equivalents of the intellectually lazy liberals who like to call conservatives "fascists"?

If you support the war in Iraq, would you be willing to pay for it through a tax increase? If not, what would you cut in order to finance the millitary? Remember, military spending is over 50% of the budget, and welfare is less than 1%...if you cannot answer this question, will you still blame the next president for raising taxes? or would you be willing to look at this president's record spending and the cost/benefit analysis of this war in Iraq as the real issue?

compromise is the answer to our political woes in the US, (which means neither side get everything they want ) or should it be a 'to the victors goes the spoils' process?

The later seems to inspire a constant pendulum process.

If you watch the video of Saddam's execution, you can hear his executioners chanting "Moqtada, Moqtada!" They were VERY obviously 'Sadrists,' members of Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army. To give you a short history lesson, the Mahdi Army has killed hundreds of US troops since the war began, many with Iranian-designed IEDs and EFPs.

Why did Bush allow Mahdi Army members to execute Saddam? Why did US military officials hand-pick Mahdi Army members to do this work? Does it just come down to raw incompetence? These are some of the very LAST guys in Iraq you'd want to carry out the execution.
