Why does nobody talk about the crisis of democracy that occurs when both parties defy the will of the people on the most important issue of the day?

OK, I mean after Ron Paul is shut out of the primary process, boycotted by the media, and loses the nomination.

Right, we can all have fun voting for Kucinich and Ron Paul.
But when the rubber meets the road, the political elites in this country will never give those guys the time of day.
And we are going to face a general election of two identical pro-war candidates, even though the overwhelming majority of the country is anti-war.
I ask you - is this democracy?

When the so-called front-runners are little more than manufactured corporate drones with so few real differences between any of them as to be indistinguishable from each other, one has to wonder why the corporate state even bothers wasting our time with this pathetic lie of sham elections. At which point then, we might as well all vote our consciences, even if it's for someone from one of those little parties for whom no one who has to have a "winner" would ever vote. Perhaps if the Greens took a small percentage, a real dialogue might open up as to whether we shouldn't ditch the two party system altogether for a more inclusive multi-party system.

There is a place for a write in vote. Use it.I guess it's still there. Our government has defied the will of the people in almost all of the issues anymore. They really don't give a dip about our wants. They do what they want and try to come up with a legitimate reason why.Well, sometimes they do.

The answer to your question is to vote for a candidate who is not affiliated with either of the defiant parties. We live in a representative republic, not a democracy. If your representative is not doing what you voted them in for, then vote them out, but they are not obligated to bend to the people's will. I personally think that an overall rotten job of running our country has been done for some time now. This makes me want to vote against EVERY incumbent regardless of party affiliation.

I think it will just go round and round until the majority of people get upset enough to take action. It took a long time to extricate ourselves from Vietnam so I dont see us getting out of Iraq any faster.

There is no anti-Iraq war candidate that either party will support. Dems are just as bad as Repubs on this issue of who to replace Bush with.
As it was with Bush, the party machine is shoving the person they want down America's throat and the party sheeple simply comply. They never challenge the mind control of their respective parties. After the party machine picks their leader for them, the sheeple say "we" have to win when "we" had no input into who the machines chose for both parties.

maybe us anti-war folks can pool our money across the United States and hire a lobbyist. That seems to be the only way to get a politicians attention any more.

Sorry to tell you this boy but the majority of us out here in America are for total war. We want a showdown with the scum that attacked and killed thousands of our people on 9/11/01. We want to destroy all of the radical jihadist muslims and their progeny. What the hell's wrong with you. Are you on their side, boy? You must be a boy because a mature man could see things for how they really are! By the way I am THE ALL AMERICAN!!!!
Thumbs Down. You Chicks and Momma's Boy's need to hang it up for the night.
Too bad Fred Rogers is not around for y'all to vote for. How about Big Bird instead? Won't you tell me how to get to Sesame Street (La La Land)?
