If you support the war in Iraq, would you be willing to pay for it through a tax increase? If not, what would you cut in order to finance the millitary? Remember, military spending is over 50% of the budget, and welfare is less than 1%...if you cannot answer this question, will you still blame the next president for raising taxes? or would you be willing to look at this president's record spending and the cost/benefit analysis of this war in Iraq as the real issue?

Of course they are going to blame the next President for raising taxes, its already been planned that way.
Those tax cuts for the rich are due to be renewed or not in the next term. Allowing them to expire will immediately be jumped on as a tax increase. We will never have another round of stupidity as deliberate as this one and no one will step forward to carry this policy of fiscal irresponsibility to the next guy.
The bills will become due. As they say, its happens on the next mans watch, and they will blame him or her as sure as the day dawns. Bush takes responsibility for nothing and he never will.
And you have my permission to file this and pull it out two years from now.
All that without even having to polish up my crystal ball.
Yes you did pay for the Spanish American war through a tax on your telephone.

someday, someone is going to feel the responsibility to pay for this war. It won't be Bush or the borrow and spend Republicans. It will be a fiscally responsible Democrat. And once again, the Democrats will be blamed for raising the taxes. It won't matter to them that Bush was responsible. All that will count is that a Democrat raised taxes.
I personally think that only those that think Bush told the truth and support this war should pay for this war.

No, No, No. It was not handled right to begin with. All the money needed to fund this war is right there and do not let anybody kid you about that. Iraq is a oil rich nation and the money for this should come from them. Do not let the news fool you into thinking that they are a poor nation. They need to get their differences aside and start putting together a governing body that can withstand the insurgents that are trying to destroy (Their) country.

We finally just paid off the Spanish-American war a year or two ago. That's why we had the adjustment on our taxes last year for the extra tax that had been on our phone bills. They could just put that tax back.
Edit: Here are some sources... No one is sure where the money was spent after the war was paid off, but until last year we were paying into the Spanish American fund.

I think you got lost in translation. If Senator Clinton gets elected and undoes the Bush tax cuts, she'll be increasing taxes on the top 1% of the economic ladder. IMHO that would be great. They should have had their taxes increased, not cut, in 2000.

If I did support the war (which I don't) I would raise taxes to fund it. If you don't tax people now and you make a huge debt (some 200 biliion) the presidents later on will have to raise taxes to get out of said debt.

"Tax increase" used without context doesn't have much meaning. Increase what kind of tax? And on whom? Does closing a loophole count as an increase? There are certainly segments of the American population that are undertaxed, and I'd LOVE to see those folks carrying their fair share.

Absolutely NOT! I would support bringing our troops home and putting them on the borders armed to the gills and ordered to shoot to kill if those who try to invade by crossing illegally don't turn around. If the troops were placed on the border and the laws were effectively enforced, then yes, I would support a tax increase to fund our military. But as it stands, any money spent on this war is really not spent on our military and their families, it goes to Halliburton, Blackwater and the other contractors.
