I mean.. just like they say you wouldn't be able to appreciate good if there was no evil... how could we appreciate our freedom without someone like GW showing us the alternative.

I've read accusatory postings regarding higher ed on this site over and over again. In the past year I've moved from teaching high school to the university level and am now working at one the nation's best and most notoriously liberal campuses.

I just walked across our quad where all the student groups were gathered and we had representation from extreme left and right as well as moderate and everything in between. Many of the profs I know are Republicans and the student population is very religious, but also very tolerant of others regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. They also have a high commitment to public service and academics.

So I wonder why people make these assumptions that college campuses are simply 'liberal bastions'?

If Republicans had been there, would they have developed their usual propaganda of fear? ... to the extent that the brave pioneers may not have migrated their conestogas westward into dangerous uncharted territory?

Shame on those who blindly succumb to typical Republican fear mongering tactics. We've heard it before ... you are in grave danger and we, the Republican leadership are your sole protectors. ... vote for us ... In the meantime, pardon us while we strip you of your freedoms, dodge all accountibility, and create a culture that rewards the wealthy on the backs of the poor and middle classes.

America was founded on bravery and heroics ... not from cowering in fear at the thought of a big scary world out there.

The biased moderators of Fox News asked what Ron Paul would do in the midst of the bloodbath that is certain to occur in Iraq if the United States was to leave. USAElectionPolls.com says that the wording of the question was biased.

When Ron Paul says that they do not want us in Iraq, the commentator asked Ron Paul if he plans on taking his marching orders from Al Qaeda and Ron Paul replies as strong as ever "No!". He goes on to state that he will take his marching orders from the Constitution.

USAElectionPolls.com has recently published a report on the biased coverage of Ron Paul on Fox News. Commenters have already begun to critique it by saying that bias is even stronger than the web site's report states.

Sounds like a good campaign slogan to me.

Have you ever considered you are paying the wrong price! I for one would rather live free! Free of oppression, free from fear, free, free, free! If I were to die from a terrorist attack tomorrow, no one would need to feel for me for I lived and died a free man! I would rather die free than live a long life of fear any day. This is the true price of freedom. Not fear, not fight them there so we don't have to fight them here... but that you could die any day because you are free. If we aren't willing to pay that price.. then we do not deserve freedom at all.

I've heard some Bush defenders here say that if we don't have anything to hide, we shouldn't be bothered by domestic spying. Call me crazy, but I think that what I do in the privacy of my own home, car, phone, and e-mail account is my business and no one else's. If the government disagrees, then they'd damned well better get a warrant!

The Anbar region is more peaceful, admits Senator Schumer. But he says the reason is the US military is failing, so the locals are going it alone.

The question, was there going to be a scenario that Senator Schumer thought was successful? I realize if the fighting got worse, he would say it is a failure. But for it to be more peaceful and that is a result of failure, I don't get it. Please explain.

Poorly maintained Mexican trucks with no pollution controls are now on our nation's highways.

It seems to be only liberals, e.g. unions, Sierra Club, etc., who are defending America against this latest threat.

They pose a threat to highway safety, they increase our pollution, and they open another loophole for terrorists to potentially enter the country.

I keep hearing all the rhetoric from the Left, but I know several people (including myself) who simply went out and started a business. Success is all about hard work. What gives?

You can make as much money as you want. No one is there to stop you (except the IRS).

Over the years other recipients of Hsu donations have included Sens. Dianne Feinstein, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Edward Kennedy.

Hsu's lawyer confirmed today that his client was the one involved in the California case but said he did not remember pleading to a criminal case nor facing jail time.

"He is a fugitive," said Ronald Smetana of the California attorney general's office. "Do you know where he is?"

I'm just curious- do you actually know anybody who was killed over there? If so, were they a close relation? Or did you know of them through other people in your life?

I don't mean to sound hateful with this thought, and I'm sorry if I do, but I don't understand how somebody can lose a close family member or friend and want this to continue. I don't see how pulling out completely shows that these 3,700 or so Americans would suddenly be seen as having been killed in vain.

These advertisements that have recently come on the radio, from mothers of soldiers killed in Iraq, who are wanting this to continue, baffle me. Wouldn't they be empathetic for other mothers whose children are in Iraq, and wouldn't they want those soldiers to stay alive?

Do you feel those mothers are speaking from the heart, or do you think it is their financial gain from doing these commercials, which has let them say anything at all, to continue to lend support to the war effort?

I vote Republican because they generally fit my beliefs better than Democrats do, generally. One thing I disagree on is abortion. Without regard for my personal wishes, I agree it is the woman's right to choose as long as the NNNN is not viable. If it could survive outside the mother, as 7+ month premies often do, then I think it's a baby, and should not be aborted unless the mother's health is at risk. Again, my opinion. My question for the "no-limits" crowd is, would you personally stick an icepick in the back of the head of a 7+ month premee and suck its' brains out?
