I guess I would need specifics on what is being defended to formulate a thoughtful answer. If you are implying that nothing the US does is worthy of defence then I would have to say you are the one who is ignorant of world affairs........

I find it refreshing that there are still Americans out there who have convictions and defend this country in the face of it's current problems. We all cannot join on board the socialist movement and bash the US. I defend the free market economy and the wealth that it creates. I find it amazing that people like you label this country as so backwards, yet people from all over the world are killing themselves to get here.
History has proven time and time again that we have created the most free society in the world. Our society cultivates ideas, classical liberal thought, human rights, and the ability to better ones standing in life.
There is no other country in the world that can boast that. That is why the United States is the country that is most often emulated. That is also why when the rest of the world is in trouble, they ask the United States for help.

The U.S.A. or the current administration? I don't think that there is a better country in the world than the USA! Freedom buddy, prosperity and Security. Now as far as foreign policy I do not agree with many of the decisions of our current president. However, We do not know the intricate details behind the scenes...so, the decisions are from premises about information that we may or may not have complete access to. I honestly think that our president is doing the best he can with what he has, but regardless he may be the most influiential individual of the world for decades to come whether for good or bad we won't know for awhile..., but we certainly can't blame him for his appropriated time in the world...that is to say that the world has been coming to this juncture from decades ago...and buddy if you would look at the evidence of the complete picture how globalization is effecting everyone! Cultures are going to rubb shoulders and lines for everyone will be drawn. If it wasn't this president it would be another...lets hope that there will be better diplomacies, dialogues and treaties set forth for posterity, because guess what it's here and it isn't gonna go away!

I see no problem defending the USA, I see no problem criticising the USA. The loathing and the hatred towards Americans bothers me though.
At the end of the day I'm bloody glad it's the USA that is the sole superpower in the world and not the Chinese or the Russians.

Why should American citizens not defend their country? Current administration excepted, the United States Still does far more for the world than any other country. To label the whole country as bad or indefensable in a public forum shows how truly short sighted you have become in life.
