In a speech a few days ago President Bush referred to the U.S. government as "my government". Gee, I always thought it was the government of the people, not the President. Does this demonstrate his contempt and disregard for the American people?

Bush has gone on the record numerous times about wanting to spread "democracy" and "freedom" to the Middle East, and so he backs both the Fatah and Lebanese government in the process--and the peace talks with Israel.

Only...

Last year, Israel invaded Lebanon to try and take out the embedded Hezbolah contingent--with the US's blessing--and kills over 800 Lebanonese civilians and only a small number of Hezbolah fighters.

(All for democracy, right?)

Israel ends up with egg on its face in light of the embarassing defeat by Hezbolah, while Bush does nothing but pull financial support from the people of Lebanon because of what happened.

So Hezbolah steps in to give what the US refuses to dole out: Money and support in the ongoing reconstruction efforts--even though our government has labeled Hezbolah as 'terrorists'.

Senators plan to revive immigration bill
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070615/ap_on_go_co/immigration

Left for dead a week ago, legislation to strengthen border security while bestowing legal status on millions of illegal immigrants is showing signs of life.

Senate leaders announced plans Thursday night to revive the White House-backed measure as early as next week, although neither Majority Leader Harry Reid nor his GOP counterpart, Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, issued any predictions the bill ultimately would pass.

Instead, they issued a statement that said in its entirety: "We met this evening with several of the senators involved in the immigration bill negotiations. Based on that discussion, the immigration bill will return to the Senate floor after completion" of sweeping energy legislation that has occupied the Senate this week.

There was no immediate reaction from the bill's numerous Senate critics, who have consistently attacked the legislation as conferring amnesty on the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in the country.

Officials said the Bush-backed plan for accelerated funding would be among the changes to be voted on. So, too, a proposal by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, to toughen a requirement for illegal immigrants to return to their home country before gaining legal status.

Also to be protected from immediate change is a provision giving law enforcement agencies access to personal information that immigrants provide on their applications for legal status.

But the provisions relating to the legal fate of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants has drawn the most controversy.

The bill allows illegal immigrants who were in the country as of Jan. 1, 2007, to come forward, pay fees and fines, pass a background check and receive an indefinitely renewable four-year Z visa to live and work legally in the U.S.

Ultimately, holders of Z visas could qualify for citizenship if they learn English and hold down jobs. Heads of households would have to return to their home countries, whether or not they sought a green card bestowing permanent legal resident status.

The bill also creates a new employment-based point system for new immigrants to qualify for green cards based on their education and skill level, and eliminates or limits visa preferences for family members of U.S. citizens and permanent legal residents.

Libby did nothing wrong. All we have here is a witch hunt by the liberal media that is determined to get dirt on Bush and his administration. Since they can't get any, they fabricated a story and blew some events which were true out of proportion.

Agree?

Scientists, teachers, researchers, professors, social workers, writers, artists, and others define success in non-monetary ways, but the least educated, least informed, most fundamentalist far right Fox News and hate radio lemmings continually attack these people.

Why? Because they fear and loath what they refuse to understand, or worse - are incapable of understanding.

Was the "Mission" actually to create a pre-trained and ideologically motivated insurgency that would help accomplish this administrations true goal; A long drawn out war that would be used to funnel huge amounts of US money into the hands of Contractor cronies of Bush and his father in order to bilk this country out of billions. It is in affect the most successful and largest con job ever played.

"If you want to kill the bill," Bush said, "if you don't want to do what's right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it, you can use it to frighten people. Or you can show leadership and solve this problem once and for all, so the people who wear the uniform in this crowd can do the job we expect them to do."

anyone tired of this moron pretending to know wtf he's talking about?

Well , I got sent a copy of this and if it can be proven to be false , then I'm listenin . But if true , it states that statements concerning homosexuality , such as " Calling the practice of homosexuality a sin , from the pulpit , would be considered a 'hate crime' punishable by law ".
So that's free speech and freedom of religion to a liberal ? Tell priests, pastors and preachers that they can't say what they believe in the Bible ? What ?

Who has heard of these bills ?

What do you think ?

1. Labels suck. You say something bad against Bush - you're a liberal. You say something pro-Bush, you're a conservative. What happened to being an intelligent, average American and seeing things for that they really are - no party-bias?

2. If Bush could run for a third term, there would still be die-hards that vote for him.

3. Americans have gotten lazy. We sit back on our couches in our living rooms criticizing every move Bush makes, but yet we were too lazy to vote to make sure he wasn't re-elected. According to the last election statistics, only 25% of Americans vote.

4. After the first election, the world blamed Bush for the disasters "America" caused in Iraq and elsewhere. After the second election, who do we have to blame but ourselves?

5. We've thumbed our noses at countries like France and Germany and made them look like world powers because THEY WERE RIGHT about Iraq and stood up to Bush.

6. How can we regain our elite status in the world?
