I just asked a question and everyone is referring to NAFTA being the problem.
Could someone tell me who that is and what it means?

Thank goodness we're not Republican.
Or the new breed of Republican that is that's selling us down the river.

North American Free Trade Agreement

You take a $ 20+ an hour American job...building a car..making steel, etc....

The corporation sends that job to Mexico and pays the new worker $ 7 a day for the same job

Then the car (the product) is shipped back into America without being taxed

The corporation is now rolling in money

The American worker is now unemployed or working at several new jobs to replace the one good job he or she lost (no more time for the kids...right Family Values Republicans)

the Mexican or other foreign laborer loves his $ 7 a day job so much that he risks the wrath of the KKK wannabes to come to America to more than triple his daily wages

And the corporations, the corporate politicians and corporate government sell this as "free trade" and tell us it's good for the country.

The only group that benefits from NAFTA are corporations...all working people, American and other, have their wages stagnated and or cut as a direct result.

Bill Clinton, Al Gore and the Republicans sold us NAFTA

NAFTA: North American Free Trade Agreement

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NAFTA

you will get varied opinions on its benefits to Americans...I have yet to see any benefit in its 13 years of existence to any one but those who have taken American jobs and moved them "elsewhere" only to pay those filling those jobs for about 3% of what Americans were being paid to do the same job.

One way of looking at it is big business increases its profits at the expense of the American worker - while at the same time having the work done in areas where there is little or no worker rights or regulations.

Americans seem to ignore the fact that NAFTA hurt canadians too.

All I hear is wah wah our jobs left the country.

HOWEVER... our jobs left to the US after NAFTA and Canada bled. But Americans just said... well that is business! Suck it up.

Now Americans feel the pinch and they are the only ones hurting or ever hurt by it.

If this were not so serious an issue, I would say, now you know how it hurts. But we people of these mighty nations are up against the same evil cabal and need to stand together on this so I won't say a word.

We are all in it together and must unite against it.
