First I am really sorry for Dead Marxist, Matt and Truth b told, you guys are totally out to lunch on this subject, so you guys better not comments on the thing that U have no Idea about! it looks very silly u no?

Now To answer your question, not much longer, we are getting kicked out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
But what else this dumb administration got to show for 8 years of total disaster ? So they will insist on this war cause that 's the only thing they have done!? And they are just itching to start a war with Iran as well, that could buy them some more time!? And as u can see the people i named above are so blind, they can't see a simple fact. Shame.

Best Regards.

I believe that WE Britain and American troops should stay in Iraq until we get the job done even though I never agreed with the war in Iraq in the first place I think we should stay until we get the job done. When we went into get rid of Saddam we promised the Iraqi's that we would bring stability to that country and democracy ok right now we are not witnessing democracy at work and we are watching Iraq imploding right now I don't see any reason why we should abandon Iraq to Al qaeda and other foreign insurgents. Most Iraqi's want us in their country to help them and to try and bring peace to that country it's foreign fighters who have come from Iran and Pakistan and some other arab countries that are causing civil unrest and a civil war and setting one arab against another arab. We can't abandon them right now when they need us the most that I think would be defeating the prupose and leaving them to their fate and watch Iraq become another afghanistan.
EDIT: Matt I am a liberal though I am not American I do support the Labour Party here in the UK but WE who are not conservatives do support the troops in Iraq right now. Have you thought in the US Army there is a mixture of conservative voters and democratic voters serving their country right now you wouldn't call them cowards now would you even if they didn't vote republican they are still hero's in anyones book.

Frankly, we'll be there until we decide to leave. And that could be a very long time.

The inability, or more precisely the unwillingness of the Iraq's to take charge of their own security is the root cause of this problems. Sectarianism extends to the military and police, who are little more than thugs working towards their own agendas. They refuse to fight their own sects, and carry out retribution strikes on other sects.

If you need proof of that, consider that we are now arming the people who have been blowing up our troops.

If this war was left to the military experts, we would of fought a country that poses a risk to the US. If it was left to the military experts we would have used Iraqi paramilitary so it would of been more about Iraq gaining independence and less about the search for WMD. If this war was left to the military experts, we would invade Iran.
I leave you with the best advice my dad ever gave me, pulling out never works, once your in, your in. Pulling out just leaves a mess. And once your through, you got a problem for at least 18 years.

There will probably be some military presence in Iraq for years to come.

Dead Marxist says it up to the military! He's either unaware that civilians are in charge, or else he knows about an uncoming coup!

Nobody likes it that we are at war, but we simply can not let insurgent terrorists take over an oil rich region. What would be nice is if other nations would help us out. After all, they too are dependent on the free flow of oil.

What do you mean "we"? Is that where you are posting from, Iraq?

There's no need to be asking such questions. How much longer will depend on very many factors, more than your could probably comprehend, so it's best not to worry about it.

Leave such matter to the experts, the military.

Depends if we elect another pro-war idiot or not - but congress has another shot at it when the full military appropriations bill comes up in October. This time it will be much more difficult for Bush to stop them.
