SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Southern Baptists approved a resolution on global warming that questions the prevailing scientific belief that humans are largely to blame for the phenomenon and also warns that increased regulation of greenhouse gases will hurt the poor.

The global warming debate has split evangelical Christians, with some not only pressing the issue but arguing humans bear most of the responsibility for the problem because of greenhouse gas emissions. Other evangelicals say talking about the issue at all diminishes their influence over more traditional culture war issues such as abortion, gay marriage and judicial appointments.

UNITED NATIONS, June 16 — The search for Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction appears close to an official conclusion, several years after their absence became a foregone one.

The United States and Britain have circulated a new proposal to the members of the United Nations Security Council to “terminate immediately the mandates” of the weapons inspectors. Staff meetings on the latest proposal have already taken place, and officials say that the permanent Council members, each of whom has veto power, seem ready to let the inspection group — the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission — meet its end.

How could we win the war without the use of nuclear weapons? I think we would lose miserably. I should start taking classes in Chinese to welcome our soon to be masters.

Religion always plays some role in an election at this level. I think it will be interesting to see how the whole thing plays out with Mitt Romney being a Mormon. One school of thought is that it will work against him, since many voters will recall some of the more negative aspects of Mormon history. This will make them pass on Romney.

On the other hand, both Romney and his Church are pretty conservative. While Mormonism finds itself at odds with a lot of typical evangelical Christian doctrine, there are still common teachings. Maybe enough of that huge voting block of self-described evangelical Christians would support Mitt Romney for this reason. But then, maybe not.

What do you think? How will the fact that Mitt Romney is a Mormon effect his election hopes?

And what was the Republican response to them. I am also looking for information about allegations that the Bush Administration was warned about 9/11 through various intelligence reports, but chose not to read them and remained on vacation, reading the reports after the matter. And please reply post haste, as I have a deadline here at the Daily Planet.

Thanks,

Wouldn't it make a whole lot of sense to let into the country educated people who earn very good pay and can pay a lot of taxes --- instead of low-educated, low-wage illegal aliens?
