In a speech a few days ago President Bush referred to the U.S. government as "my government". Gee, I always thought it was the government of the people, not the President. Does this demonstrate his contempt and disregard for the American people?

Well, he did not lie, "We the people" is not just for those of us that are not in politics.

The government works for ALL Americans, it is the Liberal Democrats that show what they truly think, that "We the people" work for them, and they also believe that they are the President of The United States boss. They are insubordinate and I think they should be fired.

Fact, they told the poor of America that they would not change the welfare system. It was one of the first things they did.

They used the illegal immigrates to vote for them, by not wanting to show prof of citizenship (I.D'S) Now they want them to carry I.D. cards. It is the President and a few on both sides of Congress that want reform/ amnesty.

Republican explanations:

1. Bush had been talking with the representatives of other governments for several days at the G8. "My government" was an appropriate phrase for him to use there, and it naturally just slipped out of his mouth a day or so later.

2. Bush just isn't that good a speaker. He often doesn't mean what he says. Consider this quote which Republicans say is just humorous, lol

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

You are forgetting that he is also an American citizen and has the right to use that phrase. This only illustrates that some people get huffy when they don't understand something.

It just proves that he's incredibly arrogant, and also incredibly stupid to admit it. Of course, it is the truth - politicians own you, not the other way round; they just like to make you THINK that you have power over them. Far better to appear to have a mandate from the people than to claim to have a mandate from God.

If he had said "our government" you people would be lambasting him for trying to put the blame on America. Be glad he is owning up.

He's always been an arrogant jerk. Before he was ever elected to the presidency he was seen on David Letterman cleaning his glasses on one of Dave's assistants dress. He just reached out grabbed her dress and cleaned his glasses. She looked shocked.
