I now believe in a socialized health care system based on two cases. Friend #1 worked for 32 years. Payed for medical insurance she never used. Has cancer, lost her job of 17 years and can't afford Cobra. Friend #2 changed jobs after 10 years. New insurance won't accept a preexisting condition, Now must get group insurance that cost 3 times the amount. Total cost for family equals 2/3 of pay check.

How many other hard working people are suffering like this. I am not going to wait for a tragedy like this to happen to my family. I am pushing for health reform that helps all. Are you?

I thought they were going to end the war, cut funding to the troops, raise taxes on the rich, free health care for everyone. The only thing i've seen is their desire to legalize anyone who breaks into our country, but fortunately America won that battle. Oh, I forgot, their too buys with endless iinvestigations that lead no where.

Did you know that with both those cases the circumstances were exaggerated?
McDonalds apparently made their coffee so hot in order to hide it's poor quality and taste. And they did it to save fractions of a cent on every cup of coffee sold.
The alleged "burglar" who sued after being injured while breaking into a house? Well, he was actually a student who was on the roof of his school with some friends. The school had decided to paint skylights the same color as the roof. Two other students had fallen before him. The student who fell and sued remains paralyzed.
Now, knowing these facts, does it change your opinion on these particular cases?
And are these just examples of Conservatives trying to dodge responsibility and have the government take care of them?

Jeffrey Toobin has released a new book called "The Nine" in which he reveals that Justice David Souter "wept" over the Gore v. Bush decision in 2000. He also alleges (his opinion based on interviews with those close to the Justices) that at least one other Justice "regretted" the decision. Since this was a 5-4 decision, one vote would have changed the course of US history. Does anyone have any real thoughts (other than the one liners which we all have thrown back and forth many times) as to where the country would be today had that one justice voted the other way?

No one mentions that Mychal Bell's clueless public defender was black. No one mentions that there were no black jurors because of the 50 people who responded to the more than 100 summons, none were black. No one mentions that Bell was already on probation for battery relating to a Christmas day incident in 2005. No one mentions that Bell was adjudicated (convicted) of two other violent crimes in 2006 and one charge of criminal damage to property. No one mentions that Bell's father acknowledged he moved back to Louisiana in February (after seven years in Dallas) to supervise his son because of the "Jena Six" mess. No one mentions that Bell starred on the Jena High football team while constantly jeopardizing/violating his seemingly flimsy probation.

I feel that its not right to tell other countries how to live when your house is f up. I also feel that the government don't want to get involved because divide the people, keep them weak.

Before you answer (and without the "we'd blow em out of the sky" bravado), think about if another country started a war here and sent tens of thousands of troops here because they felt our leadership was wrong. Just because we believe in democracy, is it acceptable for us to force that belief on another country steeped in thousands of years of tradition?

...uh, "uneducated" people out there than I had ever known about before.

Do you think it's because of our water?
Is it because of our essentially nutrition-less diet?
Is it because of our sedentary lifestyle?
Is it because of the addiction to computers instead of reading books?
Is it because the kids don't go to the library like we did when I was a kid?

Why? What is it? Why had the overal intellect of Americans declined at such an alarming rate?

right for a U.S. citizen to own and use a gun?

If God won't take you, remind him that he has been overruled by the Constitution of the United States. Even God can't fight the Constitution.

The United States Rules. God Follows. (As it has been ever since the U.S. found it could use religion to justify whatever it wants to do).

You have even heard Bush doing it on television.

Order 17 enacted by Bush & Co. after the Iraq invasion gave Blackwater (and all other contractors) immunity from Iraqi prosecution.

Which means that the Iraqi govt. is going to find Blackwater liable for the murders and Blackwater is going to point the finger at Uncle Sam.

Thus, you and I are going to pay off these families.
