Order 17 enacted by Bush & Co. after the Iraq invasion gave Blackwater (and all other contractors) immunity from Iraqi prosecution.
Which means that the Iraqi govt. is going to find Blackwater liable for the murders and Blackwater is going to point the finger at Uncle Sam.
Thus, you and I are going to pay off these families.

fldksja21: What is going to make me cry is all the taxpayer money being wasted on Bush's fiasco in Iraq.
He's asked for $197 billion dollars to fund the war in 2008. That comes out to $16.4 billion per month. Which is far in excess of the $11 billion/month its costing now.

I know exactly what you mean. Our government system is in need of reform very badly. That's so much corruption going on all over. Sometimes it makes you wonder where God is to punish these wrong doers. Still we all have understand that at the end everyone will be judged accordingly.

They may be immune to prosecution or fines from the Iraqi government but they are not immune to the US withholding funds to Blackwater.
Although we will still end up paying for it.

Probably as much as we are spending on the war there now, if not more. It's tragic, I agree- but the only thing we can do as taxpayers is hang on for another 18 months until Dubbya FINALLY leaves office- only then will things FINALLY start to change. Until then, however, it will be more of the status quo.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE PHRASE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. The matter is under investigation and if the evidence proves a trial is needed there will be one.
