Why would he steal all that money when the per capita income of Cubans languishes around $1,500 / year? That's right, folks, the average Cuban has an annual income of $1,500!

Now, I know, I know, for the Cubans lots of things are either subsidized or simply unavailable (the latter being a slight understatement ;-)); so I have no trouble acknowledging that the average Cuban has $3,500 per year in terms of purchasing power parity. Still, $3,500 is a wretched existence.

So I can't help but wonder how that great leader of the people, Fidel, has become worth $900 million. Shouldn't he give that money back to the people who's necks he's been standing on for the last 48 years?

I think he should give it back and then he should have Cuban doctors treat him next time he's seriously ill. You know the doctors, right? They're the ones that help to make Cuba's health care system the envy of the known world. Yeah, right!

There are many books on the subject, such as: Morris Berman (Dark Ages America) Cullen Murphy(Are We Rome) among many others. My real question is: In saying America is a present day empire, due to forcing it's way of living on other countries and cultures, and mabey the rise of inflation etc. Is is fair to compare an ancient society with one of the present day? Andy why? Your thoughts please?

1. I want my employer to provide me with a pension plan.
2. I want the government to take something out of every one of my paychecks and then pay it back to me in monthly payments after I reach retirement age.
3. I'm perfectly willing to save some money toward my retirement years out of each and every paycheck and I want my employer and the government to butt out. If I fail to finance my retirement years adequately I'll have nobody to blame but myself.

I asked a question about what was happening in London and Scotland and our government not raising our security level. Bush says it can't happen in us anymore. Has the door now been opened for it to happen? Most americans ashamed now to be citizens because of the government. There would be no where that we could go to as we are bunched up to being us like the government which we are not. We agree Bush should be impeached with his vp and his whole cabinet including the judges in the supreme court. The common everyday person hates what's going on in this country and the ones who could stop it, aren't. We want peace and happiness and jobs and healtcare for everyone. Just want an honest answer if Bush not raising the alert level has he now opened the gates of Hell to come pouring in over here again?

What's stopping Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Hillary Clinton from sending the IRS more money? Frankly, I'm surprised every single Democrat Congressperson uses tax deductions to lower their taxes.

Sure, the Republicans use the same deductions, but they don't think lower taxes is a bad thing.

Apparently, it will be four football fields wide. It will start at the Mexican border at Laredo Texas, to the Canadian border North of Dulth, Minn. Containers from the Far East will enter the Mexican Port of Lazaro Cardenas, bypassing the American Longshoreman's Union. The Mexican trucks, WITHOUT the involvement of the AMERICAN TEAMSTERS UNION will travel this Highway through the Center of the USA, to a MEXICAN Customs Office in Kansas City. This Facility is being built for MEXICO at a cost of $3 Million to the U.S. Taxpayers. Then the Containers will either go to Canada, or to other U.S. States. It appears that there are Plans to create the NORTH AMERICAN UNION to replace the USA! Great Reason for trying to pass the Defeated Immigrations Bill.

Anaphylactic shock, choking, suffocation and death are common among severe strawberry allergy sufferers.

Considering the dangers involved in the drugs contained in strawberries and their fatal effects in some humans - why are strawberries still legal?

Even worse is when one goes into the local Whole Foods and they have "the first one is free - then you're hooked" samples of strawberries out for toothpicking.

Considering many enjoy strawberries with no ill effects - but strawberry usage can be fatal in others - why don't we apply the same logic to strawberries that we do to other plant-based sources of enjoyment which are illegal, and illegalize strawberries?

I think it's hilarious, since Bubba Clinton put Aristide back in power after he was deposed. Clinton loved the guy.

It's obvious these clowns took their cue from moveon, dailykos or some other loony left website and, as usual, took a pass on any critical thinking.

When anything that people might want is outlawed it creates a black market in that product or service.
Those people who supply that product or service become rich enough to be able to corrupt Law enforcement and government.
Those people who supply that product or service support the continued prohibition of those products or services so they can continue to make money from the uncontrolled sales. To that end they become the biggest supporters of Right Wing Law and order politicians who then can't prosecute them for fear of exposure of where their campaign funds came from.
The medical and pharmaceutical industries enter into this by developing and dispensing more kinds of abusable drugs which are eventually outlawed adding to black market, medical and pharmaceutical profits
How do we get off this vicious cycle?
