Nice to meet someone learning about patriotism. Shutting out half of the U.S., calling them names, etc. sounds a lot like bigotry to me.
That's not what patriotic democrats are about. We may protest (respectfully), but our country comes first.
I have many patriotic friends who disagree with me on many things, but their country comes first. We don't call each other names, or treat our representatives disrespectfully, though we might open protest their policies. This goes for both sides of the aisle.
The most important part of being patriotic is that there is no room for hypocracy. Disagreeing with your party on an issue is not a problem for patriots (I support the war, but then again, my family fled Islam in the 1950s). However, only speaking up about something you perceive is wrong when IT ISN'T YOUR PARTY is hypocritical, and deserving of the contempt such behavior elicits in others.
Many people call me a neo-con because I speak up when I see democrats/liberals behave seditiously or rudely.
They see what they want to see. They don't see the republicans/conservatives telling me I'm a lib or lieberal because I do the same thing to them.
Keep you integrity, keep speaking up. Everyone.

because leftists are bent on the destruction of anything that is not exactly like them, and then they still want to lord over it. its simply a case of leftist narcissism, which equates them to thinking that they are the ONLY ones who are thinking. That makes it a god complex. these people actually believe they are the top of the heap and answer to nobody.
on the right, it is defined as what is best for the individual is that they decide for themselves. leftists want to make all the decisions for every person.

Polarization of the masses keeps them at bay and diverts their attention from those things that are happening around us. Now that the POTUS is Bush, the left can see all the crap going on in the backgrund, SPP, NAU, RealID, NSPD-51/HSPD-20. No action on stemming illegal immigration...etc... to help us merge with Canada and Mexico.. When Clinton was doing the ground work..Nafta/Gatt, EO 12919 etc...it was the right that were the conspiracy theorists....
Blind loyalty to parties keeps us all blind and too busy to really pay attention to what is happening around us...

I don't understand it either. The only thing one should be concerned with. Will they secure the border first? Will they uphold our constitution and laws? Will they rid the country of drugs and gangs? Will they end NAFTA? Will they stop the secret deals to undermine this country?

Depends.... I have my beliefs and the reasons for them.... so I tend to hang with like minded individuals. Why would one want to fellowship with idiots that hold diametrically opposing view points, are constantly argumentative, and have no facts to support their reasoning... just feelings. And to top it all off they continue doing the same things and expect differing results.
