AHH ILLEGALIZE STRAWBERRIES! hahaha I had a major reaction to my throat closing up when I was younger from eating my first strawberry... I have ever since been allergic so yeah they really can hurt people bad. They don't want to do this because there aren't really many people that are allergic to the fruit. Also, 100's of people die each year of peanuts and they can't illegalize them because theyare an ingredient in many foods. So pretty much, as long as it is not threatening to EVERYONE, they won't think of illegalizing it at all.

Life is all about finding the balance between safety and freedom. We've had the same argument about whether to require seat belts and air bags in cars, whether to allow people to smoke where they want, requiring helmets for kids on bikes or adults on motorcycles. Remember that alcohol was once illegal in the US. The decision is not always easy.
But very few people are killed by their first exposure to strawberries or other food allergens. They learn they're allergic, and they stay away. Is that a reason to deny strawberries to the millions of people who can eat them safely? We might as well kill off all the bees becasue some people are allergic to their stings.
There is no way to remove all the risk from life. And I doubt that you'd really want to.

Alright, you are obviously advocating Pot, or worse. Just because a miniscule portion of people are allergic to strawberries does not mean that no one should be able to get them. There are people allergic to sunlight and dust, but we can't outlaw everything. "Other plant-based sources of enjoyment" should at least fall under "Controlled substances" like cocaine, since they alter the mind and make the operation of machinery and some other ordinary tasks potentially dangerous. Besides, Pot is not a food. If you're allergic to strawberries, stay away from them. I know that diazonon is bad for me, so you don't see me eating it.

Well I'm allregic (as are many many others) to peanuts. Does that mean we should make all peanut products illegal? That would be just ridiculous. There are many people with allergies to many different things. You can be allergic from anything to flowers, food, fabrics, medications, animals....there would be no way of doing such a thing. Honestly....it is just stupid.

Some people will die from being near peanuts... even being near someone eating them on a airplane.
Some people will die from drinking milk, eating eggs, butter, cheese, wheat, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, etc.
So... why dont we just make all food illegal?
People with food allergies need to carry an epi-pen, and stay away from the food they cant eat... and allow the rest of us to enjoy the food we eat.

If your allergic to strawberries or some other food then don't eat it . I like them and will continue to enjoy.

Why not apply your standards to all foods, then we can eliminate all foods which might cause a fatal allergic reaction and live on just water.
ALL foods have the potential to cause an allergic reaction.

I am allergic to peanuts, hazelnuts and almonds...but I don't expect the government to outlaw them. Maybe we should concentrate on things that are bad for EVERYONE. Like cigarettes...we know all people can be harmed by smoking, even Innocent bystanders who get to breathe in second hand smoke, so why are cigarettes still legal?

an allergic reaction to very few people does not justify making a substance illegal. just look at cigarettes. a few people have allergic reactions, such as shortness of breath, coughing, and even death. now with the government we have, do you believe that anything that caused lots of people to die would be legal?

The same reason that these are still legal: Peanuts, cashew nuts, kalamari, shellfish, milk, etc., etc.....
These can cause severe and sometimes fatal reactions in people who are allergic to them.
Just because some people are allergic to certain foods and condiments is no reason to ban them. It is up to the individual to determine if he or she is allergic to them.
