You knew before bording a plane that the captain had the ability if he felt "for certain" the plane was being high jacked to put everyone to sleep with gas. To get the plane landed safley? I understand there would be "technical" health issues that would have to be addressed in medical technicalites. But would YOU be willing to let "the captain" have the ability to do such a thing if it could potentialy save the lives of those on the plane and potentialy who ever these hijackers would want to "crash into" ?

First, let me start with that yes I am a Vet. 7 years active Army 11B Infantry. I ETSed in '03.
Second, I'm new to this forum and am seeing a large number of either active or veteran service members who vehemently support the war in Iraq. How and why?

I don't understand how there can be this much support for a war that has been sold to us under false pretenses from the beginning.

I lost two friends in Iraq, and don't understand how there can be support for a war that was never and is still not necessary. Yet, we continue to fight a war that is un-winable and everyday more good people die.

I understand loyalty, duty and selfless-service, but I also know that you are supposed to question orders when they are illegal. If someone could help me look at this from another point of view it would be appreciated.

Over one millions served in Viet Nam and 59,000 died there with 87% of those being caucasions. None of us wanted to go to Nam and possible die but it was the law at the time. We could have avoided military service but ruin our lives. Clay made millions in the ring and then put down his country and bad mouthed it. I think he was a low down coward.

As a Canadian soldier I seem to hear constant remarks toward our troops from many places but its mostly the civilians. Be it from citizens in canada critizing troops being part of this war to people outside canada, mainly the U.S. I was recently visiting family in new jersey and quite a few people referred to our troops and efforts to being a wasteand our soldiers being a waste. I was approached a group of people that even mocked our fallen troops. I know our army is small but our soldiers are up to par with any other strong nation. We even train down in the states to. I feel that no matter what I do as a soldier I am constantly criticized. In your view why do you think our troops are mocked why do people feel the need to mock us, be it a Canadian American,w/e. We work just as hard as any other troops

I got this great link from www.veteran.com. You follow it, put in your zip code and the site tells you how your congressman and senator voted on recent bills affecting veterans.

So many of us here are vets and care about those who suffered for our freedoms and are still suffering. This will supply the facts behind the claims that our politicians make in public.

Others who seem to love coming to the military section to badmouth the military will find the candidates they support as well. So there's something for everyone.

So, I have a dumb question. Right now my boyfriend is in BCT for infantry. I'm trying to prepare myself for the possibility of the big D word, but I have a few questions:

1. Should I expect that since he's infantry he'll probably be deployed soon (within the year)?

2. Are deployments never shorter than 12 months?

3. Any advice or info you can give?
