I was a little confused on this subject because sometimes they wear the whit uniforms, and sometimes they wear the black uniforms.

the Dress Blues are worn for PIRs between October and April
the Whites are worn between April and October.

Navy wife is right, but something that might be confusing to civilians is that the dress blues are actually black.

They just call them dress blues or Navy Blue.

I always thought that was really silly when I was in the Navy.

Edit: So dark to ANY eye they are black, my uniform was BLACK and if sold in any department Store it would be called BLACK>

The uniform for PIR (or Pass-In-Review) will depend on the time of year... Dress Whites for spring /summer and Dress Blues for fall /winter.

Just FYI, Dress Blues ARE blue, not black, but it IS a very very very dark blue.

My PIR was May 1985, NTC Orlando, Florida in Dress Whites.

depends on what tme of year the grad is.. if its dring the summer time, its whites, if its in the winter time, is dress blues....
