long story short, my neighbors and i ended up in an argument at which point i decided to stop all contact with them. today one of them knocked on my door to verbally accost me, when i shut the door (and in my state of irritation i did tell her "this, this is me slamming the door in your face"... i will not try to claim innocence) she chose to contact via yahoo messenger. does anyone happen to know if i have any recourse if this continues? i refuse to keep my son and myself reclusive because she feels the need to yell at me.

question. He is writing to us telling us that what the recruiters told him is NOT what is going to really happen with him. He is 18 years old. My husband wants to go talk to the recruiter and see if he can straighten it out. I'm telling him NOT to do that because my son would be punished even more so if his parents get involved. Am I right? Can you PLEASE give me some insight into this so I can explain to my husband what could happen if the parents get involved. They're trying to make men out of these boys and I understand. I've heard stories. Can any of you share any similar experiences (either positive or negative) if a parent gets involved in this stuff? Thank a bunch.

JESSE MACBETH: TESTIMONY OF A FORMER US ARMY RANGER IN IRAQ

Excerpts:
"When we were doing the night raids in the houses, we would pull people out and have them all on their knees and zip-tied. We would ask the man of the house questions. If he didn't answer the way we liked, we would shoot his youngest kid in the head. We would keep going, this was our interrogation. He could be innocent. He could be just an average Joe trying to support his family. If he didn't give us a satisfactory answer, we'd start killing off his family until he told us something. If he didn't know anything, I guess he was SOL."

A couple of days ago, I posted a not thanking those who served in the US Military for their service. Don't look for it now, I was given a violation and the post was removed. I can't imagine what was so horrible about thanking people who fully deserve my appreciation. I was given no explanation as to why the post was a violation or why ot was removed. If this one is removed, I will complain LOUDLY and will consider legal action.

Thank You for you service?

Fact is - Al-Queda and other fanatic Muslim operations are in at least 63 nations around the world. Iraq is just another convinient trainings ground for them. Many are recruited in Mosques in Southfield, Detroit or London, England. The Sunnis would through them out of Iraq in a heart beat, if the USA would let them. Or am I totally of the rocker here.

Have we not learned a damn thing from 6000 years of history?
It truly doesn't matter, if each year we spend 1 Trillion or a penny, or another 20 years in Iraq, 25,9 Million of the 26 million people there don't want us. What are we waiting for, Christmas, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?

In the San Francisco Peace Treaty, Japan ceded Taiwan (Formosa) and the Pescadores. But the treaty didn't specify to whom it is ceded to. Therefore it was, and still is, under the authority of the US government. Why hasn't the US goverment handed it over to the ROC authorities on Taiwan?

I just moved onpost at Ft. Stewart, GA. They gave us a 2 bedroom, even though I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old of OPPOSITE sex. And if you have ever seen the rooms in the onpost housing here, you know there is no way they fit everything for 2 young children (the only way to fit 2 kids comfortably would be with bunkbeds but they are too young) Anyways, they told us we are not allowed a 3 bedroom house until our oldest was 5 years old and in school. Today I heard something about it being a Georgia law that children of the opposite sex in all government housing were required to be able to have their own rooms. Does anyone know of any truth to this rumor? One more question for anyone knowing of regulations when it comes to being on post...My 6 month old is starting to crawl and sit up and since we never got to see the apartment choices (inside them) except on what they looked like outside, he is stuck with bruised knees and way too many bumped heads, because have HARD FLOORS. Do you think that enlisted men and woman shoul be allowed to date officers and not get in trouble. When I was in,I was an E4 and my girl freind was a Ensign. We had to hide the fact that we were dating. When I got out in 1971,we dated for five more years untill she left SF and i never saw her again.

I'm kinda looking towards a career in the Military. But I can't decide which to join, Army or Marines. I heard that the Army boot camp is 6 weeks while Marines boot camp is 16 weeks. So I have a couple questions.

1) The most important thing though, is college. I know for a fact that you can go to college when your service time is up. So which branch offers better college benefits, like more scholarships, better schools, ect.

2) Is there a 2 year plan of 2 years active and 2 years inactive? (Well really 4 years all together)

Well thats it. So I'm kinda leaning towards Marines since 10 weeks more of training might help me stay alive if I were ever in combat.

And don't suggest joining the air force or Paramilitary since I could never learn to fly a plane and I'm too scared that my parachute wont work while I'm falling.

Thank you!

I'm in the process of enlisting as an MP and It's not that I'm afraid of being sent to Iraq because if it ever came down to that, I would be proud to serve my country and I would be proud to fight along side my two brothers who are currently marines in Fallujah! Just wondering what my chances would be of being sent off to Iraq after basic and AIT because I would like to finish college. Being an MP, does that mean they're automatically going after basic and AIT ?

JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA—With rumors swirling about Osama bin Laden's possible death from typhoid fever in Pakistan, Hamida al-Attas, the al-Qaeda leader's mother, said she is "worried sick" about her son and wished that he would send "some sort of sign" that he is alive.

Al-Hattas just wants to know her son is okay.
"I can't sleep at night not knowing where he is," said al-Attas, clutching a framed eighth-grade school portrait of bin Laden in the living room of her Jeddah home.

"He could be dead in a ditch somewhere and I would have no idea," al-Attas added.

The fact that al-Qaeda has not staged a major attack in over a year, coupled with the new rumors of bin Laden's death, have increased al-Attas's anxiety over the whereabouts and welfare of her son.

"It's like he disappeared off the face of the earth," al-Attas said. "All I ever see of him is the occasional grainy videotape, and he looks so skinny, I'd hardly recognize my own son if it weren't verified by the CIA. I just hope he's taking care of himself."

Saying "it's a mother's right" to know her child's whereabouts, al-Attas admitted the only time her mind is put at ease is when her son occasionlly checks in with acts of terror such as the Bali nightclub bombing, the Madrid train bombings, and last year's London subway attacks. "I wish [Osama] would understand the pain he causes me, the worry," al-Attas said. "Doesn't he know that his actions can affect others?"

"For his dear mother's sake, I wish he'd carry out an attack," al-Attas continued. "Just so I know he's all right."

Instead, al-Attas said she is left to torment herself with dozens of conceivable scenarios of bin Laden's fate. "What if an elite group of Delta Force assassins ambushed him in a remote Pakistani mountain pass?" said al-Attas, wringing her hands at her kitchen table. "What if some unscrupulous local informant revealed his hidden location? What if he slept in one of those dirty hotel comforters I saw on the news that are covered in germs? No mother should have to go through this with her son."

Even if bin Laden is alive, his "neglectful" appearance gives al-Attas no less reason to worry about his state. "If I know my Osama, his [cave] is a shambles," said al-Attas, who noted that his beard was "getting a little out of hand" in the last photos she saw of him, and that his fatigues and Afghan-style headdress "didn't look warm enough." "When he's on his own, he doesn't look after himself properly. I can't tell you how many times his father and I have gotten on him about that. But I guess he's always been stubborn."

"It's only because I love him so much," she added.

Bin Laden
Admitting that bin Laden was no longer "the nice boy who'd come home from al-Thager Model School all eager to tell me about his day," al-Attas said she regretted the fact that he has not been a part of the extended family in so long. "Since he never gets to the yearly reunions, I bet he doesn't even know that his 14th half-sister [Iftikar] just had a baby," al-Attas said. "His younger cousins would love to spend some time with him, but they wouldn't even know what he looked like if it wasn't for all those propaganda posters."

Although al-Attas said she realizes bin Laden is busy, and understands his line of work requires focus and constant travel, the fretful mother said, "I just wish he would pick up a phone every once in a while" between meetings to let her know he is all right.

"My friends tell me that he's a big boy, and that he can take care of himself," al-Attas said. "But it's all I can do not to rush out and scour the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan myself."

"He could be Allah knows where doing Allah knows what," she added.

Al-Attas has even contemplated releasing a videotape of her own urging bin Laden to let her know he's alive, and to tell her whether he is wearing the mukluks she sent him in 2002.

But whatever trouble he may be in, al-Attas said she hoped bin Laden knew that he would "always be my baby" and that "he can always come home."

"I can't imagine a world without him," al-Attas added
