Military - April 2007

I've read articles and seen it in action on Mail Call and FutureWeapons. It is lighter, less restrictive, less rigid, and seems to be just as good as the OTV. What's the deal? The only questionable thing I noticed was that the Pinnacle boys seemed reluctant to let someone shoot at the vest from 200m. Real soldiers know that 200m is where you find maximum penetration of lead on target. Anyone know better?

My friend made it through basic and AIT but then before he was transferred to his unit he went to his commanding officers and told them about his gambling problems and how he needed to get help right away.. They didnt do anything at first so his family contacted red cross and the red cross contacted the military and he got a 10 day leave before going to his unit... He never made it back to the army. He was been gone for two years and he went to GA for his gambling help and he searched for god and found help there... It has been 2 years AWOL and he has gotten pulled over by the cops once for a speeding ticket and went to court... He has a good job where they run a background check on him... Hes bought a house and a new car... All of this while he was AWOL... And now that hes gotten the help he has saved up money for his family while hes gone he wants to know what happens now with the AWOL and why they havent hunted him down or arrested him when he was pulled over or bought a house????

I'm interested in answers as they pertain to mental issues, not more tangible disabilities like missing limbs.

Here's what I understand happens: Pvt. A comes back from war. When he can't perform his military job, a physician/physicians determines how much of his pay he receives until the final review comes up with a % of disability.

In the mean time he doesn't report to duty as usual.

By the way, what DOES happen during that time?

Write a critical essay asserting your opinion of the current war in Iraq. Your paper should draw upon representations of the Vietnam War in Tim O’Brien’s short story “The Things They Carried” and/or Jeannie Barroga’s play Walls. Thus, this paper will, in addition to being a research paper, be a comparative analysis of the two military conflicts, in Vietnam and Iraq. In short, your task is to 1) consider the representation of the Vietnam War in the primary text(s) above, 2) develop your own viewpoint about the Vietnam War based on primary and/or secondary sources, 3) compare current conditions involving the war in Iraq with your understanding of the Vietnam War. This process should culminate with your own assertion about the current war in Iraq.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Money woes and Pentagon neglect are to blame for shoddy outpatient conditions and bureaucratic delays at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, an independent review has concluded. Seems like he could have used some of the billions to help out those already injured from his fallacious war. Instead he just wants to send more young over there to get injured and not take care of them after.

My husband just left for a 6 month deployment to the gulf. I work a full time job and have a 4 year old son. I'm looking for some ideas of things I can do in the evenings and weekends with my son. One thing I have supplies for already is a paper chain. Another idea I want to do is mason jar cakes. I'd love craft ideas that we can send in a care package to the ship. Thanks in advance!

I see on the uscav.com store that they have a bunch of undergarments which bear the "under Armor Heat Gear and Cold Hear" name which they claim if you put on under our BDU it will keep you cooler. Has anyone used this and are these worth the money in any way??

Also, which one do you use in hot weather, the hot hear or the cold gear?

They seem hell bent on destroying freedom of speech and thought. If you don't agree with their narrow minded set of "Values" your branded and harrassed just like the innocents in Stalins Soviet Union or Hitlers Nazi Germany.

Would we have stopped 9/11 if we knew it was going to happen?

We meaning the USA..

My question is if USA really and truely knew that the World Trade Center was going to be attacked, do you think they would let it happen, so they could use it as an excuse to go to war with highest oil producing country in the world?

Consider the Tuskegee Experiement before you commit to an answer...

I'm not saying that the USA did do that...i am just curious to see what people think about the US, and how far you guys think the US will go to do get what they want. Be it Political influences or financial influences.
