'Disgruntled washing repair men', good one.
'Are we military', again, another good one.
Guy that asked the question: Are you bored or something?
I just looked up the desertion rates for the military. To me a pu$$y (opposite of gung ho) is someone who go's UA to avoid doing his job. Check out the link and look at how many AF guys do it verses the other services.
As far as gung ho, lets break it down for the spec ops guys in each service. I think they would be the epitome of gung ho in each service.
Army: Rangers, Green Berets
Marines: Force Recon folks
Navy: SEALS
Air Force: Combat Controllers, Pararescue, Combat Weather, Tactical Air Control, S.E.R.E
Lets pick my favorite for the AF; Pararescue. Training for a "PJ" takes 2 years. Alot of folks say the water training is harder than BUDS for the SEALS.
Did you know that there are AF instructors at Army Ranger and Airborne schools?
Too many haters out there. We are a "Total Force". We can't do our jobs if any of the other branches don't do theirs. Why ask such a lame question? Because you saw a few bad seeds? Its just like life, there are good and bad everywhere you look.
You are why there is friction. You think your *&%$ don't stink. We all bleed the same blood for the same flag.

Aviation has had a long history of resistance to change. This is however, not always a negative aspect, as I will explain below. But first, I should point out that the aviation community works quite hard to engender diversity amongst its ranks. Regarding change: Political correctness has it place in aviation, as well it should. One reason why you may never see the term 'Airmen' changed to 'Airperson' in your lifetime is that it is a clearly defined term that is firmly embedded within many regulations as well as acronyms such as 'NOTAM.' In short, It works perfectly fine today just as it did when it was first coined. It is likely that one day it may be replaced, but I wouldn't bet on it, to be honest.

You mean Chair Force LOL Well I have to agree with you about some of them but then I see some of the pussyass soldiers too :( Plus airmen that are the following jobs come to mind FAC SFP Combat Weather men (they are like special forces weather people) etc. However in remembering something about the air force soldiers devil dogs etc can pretty much get their job done without a whole team but every member of the AF is very important to the next ones Job if that makes sense. But ya most of them do seem pretty pansies hell they live in dorms instead of barracks and they earn sub standard living pay just for being on my base. .......... Shadow Stalker
PS if you notice I said they were an exclent branch of service and have great team work you retards My battle is in the AF and so in my sibling I also have a sibling in the navy but I would say I would rathe have a sister in a hore house than a brother in the navy we give each other crap thats what you do LOL .... Shadow Stalker

Well, as a former Airedale (Navy airman)... sure, SOME of the maintainers can act like disgruntled Maytag workers. BUT, we have military ID, an MOS/ NEC, and wear the uniform... we're just apples among oranges !!
And GOD knows that they (Navy Aviation Maintainers) looked upon MY rate of AW(Aviation Anti-Submarine Warfare Systems Operators) as the BIGGEST bunch of slackers and prima-donnas... we were called "FAW's" or "Aviation Waitresses".
But in helicopter squadrons, all of us AW's were Rescue Swimmers... highly motivated. In Patrol-Squadrons, the AW's would start their briefs 4 hours prior to flight... then do a 10-15 hour ASW Patrol flight... with a 4 hour debrief !
So, we don't run about with firearms and scream "hoooah"... but we do a job and do it well.
Your average rifleman can't change a helicopter engine in the rain on a pitching flight-deck in 3 hours...
And your average airman picked his MOS or NEC so WE wouldn't have to live in foxholes and eat cold chow !!

Yeah, but other branches don't like to think so. Having been a Marine myself, I can honestly say that I've poked fun of the air force out of sheer fun. I mean, sometimes, they aren't not the most motivated people, and seriously, they ARE spoiled. 6-week "boot camp," please. I went through 13 weeks of pure unadulterated hell, plus 4 additional weeks of field training. They learn militaristic traits via Martha Stewart. I learned how to defend myself and become a rifleman.
But seriously, I'm glad they're there. They do some of the work I would never be qualified to do. I would vomit if ever I had to fly a plane or jet.
In the end, to each their own.

Without the airmen the planes wouldn't be flight ready, the cargo couldn't get where it needed to be, the ammunition/bombs wouldn't get built up, etc. The airmen do all the "grunt" work, true, but without them things would fall apart - literally and figuratively. I think you should be proud of ALL military, instead of bashing them. They are, after all, doing a job many others don't want to do to protect YOUR rights.

They'd like to think so.
To the guy above me: Gung Ho means you are motivated, ready to go, or enthusiastic. Guess that don't teach that in the Army.

Yes, airmen are really military. So is the coast guard, during times of war at least.

That's real cute, putting down another branch of the Armed Forces.
All of us have our jobs to do, and we all wear a uniform that in one way or another says "US" on it.
As I have seen in 17 years of observing EVERY branch (including the Marine Corps), you don't have to be 'gung ho' (whatever the hell that means) to be in the military. The majority of folks who serve do so for love of God and Country, and should not be criticized if their particular branch happens to take better care of its people than another.

Yes, they are really military. As for being gung ho, not really, but that doesn't matter much as long as they do their job.
