I've read articles and seen it in action on Mail Call and FutureWeapons. It is lighter, less restrictive, less rigid, and seems to be just as good as the OTV. What's the deal? The only questionable thing I noticed was that the Pinnacle boys seemed reluctant to let someone shoot at the vest from 200m. Real soldiers know that 200m is where you find maximum penetration of lead on target. Anyone know better?

Military grade is IV and dragon armor is rated III by the U.S. military. Military grade also protects against some explosives. A guy was center punched with an RPG round. It blew his arms and legs off but he lived. He would have died with grade III armor. Yep that's how far the military goes in wanting to save lives.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that at 200m a bullet has it's maximum penetration ability. It may be true that a bullet has maximum damage capability at that range for an unarmored target, due to a combination of kinetic energy and the beginning of loss of spin stabilization (and thus fragmenting via tumbling once target is reached). For an armored target, all that matters is velocity, and max velocity is point blank range.
FYI I too agree Dragon Skin ought to be looked at.

Research indicated it failed to save a single dragon, so the Pentagram passed.
