Lets say a inmate is to be released tomorrow, but the personnel at the brig just informed the inmate that he will be on probation, but they haven't found a probation officer yet, so until they do they can't release him on his official release date. Can that happen, I always thought that they can't keep you after your release date if you have served your time.

And do you think we will or not? Rumors are that there are plans to start a war with Iran before the summer this year. Sometime in April.

A friend of mine is about to go into Sandhurst to do his Officer training and I don't really know what it means to be an Officer in the British Army, what the next three months will hold for him while he is in training, how they decide if you 'pass' or not and what happens next.

He is a qualified physiotherapist and I understand that they run a course for Post Graduates and that he will be a lieutenant level physiotherapist. I am just totally ignorant about it all and can't seem to find out much on the internet. For example, what are they addressed as while on their Officer training, so that if I were to write to him, what would I put before his name?

No one in my family has been in the military at all and it is a totally alien culture to me. I would love to hear from someone who has been through the same course at Sandhurst or who knows all about it to help fill me in!

Many thanks,
D

It is one of the greatest tradgedies in our history-those who died in Vietnam were predominately-poor and middle class kids-we see that with our current leaders-very few went to Vietnam. In regards to the Texas Air National Guard...General Westmoreland (this was before Bush was Pres.) indicated there was a pilot shortage and the 'Champagne Division' was untouchable.......in terms of a possible source to fullfill this shortage. Ya know as much as I don't like Kerry he went..one of the few rich who did..

WASHINGTON - Democratic leaders in Congress lobbed a warning shot Friday at the White House not to launch an attack against Iran without first seeking approval from lawmakers.
"The president does not have the authority to launch military action in Iran without first seeking congressional authorization," Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record), D-Nev., told the National Press Club.
This week, the administration sent another aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf — the second to deploy in the region. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the buildup was intended to impress on Iran that the four-year war in Iraq has not made America vulnerable. The U.S. is also deploying anti-missile Patriot missiles in the region.

President Bush said last week the U.S. will "seek out and destroy" networks providing that support. While top administration officials have said they have no plans to attack Iran itself, they have declined to rule it out.

Do you want the military to go back home, or do you wanna stay in Iraq and finish what you've started?
Most people here wantyou to come back of course, and some other people want them to stay and don't want to be "defeated" do you like the new strategy? or do you think withdrawing will be better. I just wanted to hear some opinions from those who have been there and know what it feels like to be in war.
Thanks in advance!!

why is everyone afraid of china? sure they have a military buildup and a large economy, but consider: the united states budget in military spending is 14 times that of china. which means that, in loose terms, if they build 1 plane, we can easily build 14 to counter them. simple as that. their nuclear arsenal is not international, meaning they wont be able to send one our way. their economy is in danger of overheating. by the year 2040, scientists predict that 430 million people in china will be over 60, severly damaging their economic output. by the year 2050, india (a US partner) will have more citizens and more global influence than china. so for everyone who has heard things about china's huge military buildup, it is still relatively small in the global scale. its like a race. the united states and the EU are a few laps ahead of them. while they are catching up, they can only push so hard for so long. and while their efforts may get them close, they were just too far behind.
