Did you ever see the 1986 movie, "The Money Pit", with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long?

http://imdb.com/title/tt0091541/

The repairmen who are "fixing" the house constantly say, "Two weeks!" when asked how long it will take.

After 8 months, they're still "fixing" it and still saying "Two weeks!" Any intelligent person would have cut their losses and abandoned the house, which truly was a "money pit", instead of going in debt ten times deeper than they could ever pay off.

The end of the movie has a happy ending and everything worked out; Iraq, however, is real life and nothing has a neat ending.

Here is a base line solid granite truth----
any time you hear a politician say anything in regards to a time frame on ANY subject---just go ahead and fall in the floor with laughter---these people don't know what is going to happen in the next 6 to 8 HOURS let alone 6 to 8 months !! It's all a shell game to create and maintain some assemblence of public view that they have anything near a clue as to what the hell they're doing !!!!

Jan - I think and feel very wary of believing 6 to 8 months about anything anymore. I do not think if we leave Iraq it will turn back into a military state because it never was, it was a dictatorship discuised as theocracy. Thank you Jan.

Scorpius - Since you are a thinker you might have thought a bit longer about your comment about democrats supporting our soldiers. My nephew is there, second tour and just reupped. I am very, very proud of him and the men and women he serves with. He is a good man and they are good people. They deserve to be called something better than or "acceptable losses" when they give their lives for us. I plan to see to it that no one gets confused about who to "blame" for the Iraq war...and its certainly not our soldiers.

to all those that support the war and want more of the military over there i have to ask DO ANY OF YOU HAVE FAMILY IN THE MILITARY OR FRIENDS OR BETTER YET ARE ANY OF YOU IN THE MILITARY? YOU WANT SOMEONE TO GO FIGHT THE WAR WELL GET OFF YOU BUTTS AND GO DO IT. NOW BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING MY HUSBAND IS IN THE ARMY AND IS BEING DEPLOYED IN MAY so we know what it is like to be away from our family....... he has a 5 month old son that he wont get to see his first steps or first birthday or heaven forbid things go wrong he wont get to see him grow up... now i am not complaining about our lives because my husband believes in what he does and loves his country..... what i am complaining about is all the people that want us over there then get up off your butts and go help them...... all the people that have 'we support our troops' on your bumpers.... what exactly have you done for your troops lately??? ponder that later tonight when you are sitting around your dinner table with your family while all the military familes are either away from each other or getting ready to be..... think about my little boy and all the other military children that dont get to see that military parents enough..... be grateful for what they do and the fact that they choose this life to keep the United States a safe place for you and your kids.....

thank you

when a republican says "....in 6 - 8 months" when referring to anything in Iraq, how do you feel now?

Feel? I don't feel anything... I prefer to think rather than feel. Also, I don't recall a notable Republican making any such statements.

I am rather angry whenever I hear a Democrat/Liberal say "I support the troops" when nothing could be further from the truth.

Tax the poor !!!

Karna, even understanding that Duryodhana is on direction of Adharma, he follow him for his friendship! In complete Mahabharatha as nicely Bhishma, Karna is the only guy or woman who's large!! Surya warned Karna of Indra's intentions, yet he gave his Kavacha and Kundala as alms to Lord Indra, who replaced into disguised as a beggar! i like this fairly beneficiant nature, while Karna got here to understand that Pandavas have been his brothers by using Krishna in basic terms in the previous the commencing up of the Mahabharatha conflict, then all his hatred in direction of the Pandavas vanished. yet, to be dependable to Duryodhana, Karna desperate to combat against Arjuna interior the conflict, on the different hand, not one of the Pandavas have been conscious that Karna replaced into their brother till after Karna's loss of life. Karna asked his mom to maintain their courting and his royal start a secret till his dying. there are a number of large human beings in Mahabharatha, yet for me no person is greater than Karna!

whether or not they had wmd's we got there...and we have to finish what we started...and if one more person says our soldiers are dying its called war and they signed up...if we quit now we send a message to those radicals in Iraq that we quit...many many more people will jump on their terror bandwagin and we will be screwed...its not easy to fight rebels in an urban setting....people are going to die...the only reason they say 6-8 months to make those liberal people shut up...just let it go...this is a war we have to fight...
