why is everyone afraid of china? sure they have a military buildup and a large economy, but consider: the united states budget in military spending is 14 times that of china. which means that, in loose terms, if they build 1 plane, we can easily build 14 to counter them. simple as that. their nuclear arsenal is not international, meaning they wont be able to send one our way. their economy is in danger of overheating. by the year 2040, scientists predict that 430 million people in china will be over 60, severly damaging their economic output. by the year 2050, india (a US partner) will have more citizens and more global influence than china. so for everyone who has heard things about china's huge military buildup, it is still relatively small in the global scale. its like a race. the united states and the EU are a few laps ahead of them. while they are catching up, they can only push so hard for so long. and while their efforts may get them close, they were just too far behind.

Big deal!
Why are Americans afraid of freaking everything?????
Why do you worry when you have so many other weapons that can kill China in 1 day?
Why are Americans being misinformed?
Why don't Americans know the POWER, their military has?
Just a couple of these stealth bombers can make quick work of Chinese launch pads/rockets and destroy their Maoist dreams:

DON'T BE AFRAID AND COWER! STAND UP AND SHOUT BACK!
PS: American citizens are overly peaceful...get some heat going!

My reply to your first question:
No.
To your second question:
Some of us are afraid because of the trade imbalance.
In simple terms, we've sold out our economy to the Chinese.
Our jobs (of which the taxes go to pay for the military spending we do here in America) are slowly disappearing.
We make fewer goods and choose to import them from China.
This creates an economic imbalance and undercuts the value of the U.S. Dollar.
China has more economic clout to outbid us in the purchase of foreign oil...which means we'll be paying more and more for gasoline, heating oil, etc.
Now, on a military level, maybe you missed the news this week, but China has successfully launched a satellite-destroying missile.
Maybe you don't see the practical application of something like this, but imagine all our communication satellites being knocked out by low-cost weapons.
I do wonder if that recent advance in missile guidance might have been originally developed here in America but was sold to China.
I am more concerned about the effects of China on America than I am about the impact of illegal immigration.

They have the most dangerous weapon "expendable people".
It is people they do not care if they live or die as they have too many people. (their thoughts, not mine). We mourn & the public attacks on the President worsens with every death of a soldier. The difference would be hard to overcome & not worth the price if we can find another way. We need to pressur in other ways as long as possible.
The show on the Discovery Channel said the newest, fastest & most advanced tank was not the best. It was mass produced, ugly & easy to repair tank. My point was the military with the most expensive weapons & the stockpile did not have the best weapons at end of war. China can hold us off while the create & mass produce better weapons. I think the US is strong & our weaponry is very good but we have trouble sacrificing the lives of our soldiers these days & everyone knows it. It is hard to win in war with no deaths.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. China would not have a missile program this far advanced but Clinton and Gore sold... I mean gave them the technology they needed.

You know who makes the budget buildup you speak of? The cheap labor and products coming from China. We run a great amount of their economy. Without us they lose a chunk of change, and without them we'll have to move our factories to Mexico instead.

just wanted to point out that they created a missile to destroy satelites. That is an incredibly powerful weapon which, if they wanted to attack us, they could use to defeat us.

want you to consider something which you do not seem to take into account. the us does not build planes, we buy them. we are currently operating on money loaned to us by china. in order to buy 14 new planes we would need to take out a new loan. who's our best bet for this money? china.
