Take all of the basics that you will need to see you through for a while. I know it sounds daft but people turn up with loads of crap they don't need here is a pretty large list but it will save you forking out loads of money when you get there, and you wont have to pi$$ about standing in a horrendous queue at the shop.
Soap 3 bars, razors and shaving foam(even if didn't shave), shower gel 3 or 4 containers, toothpaste 2 large tubes, toothbrush plus spare, deodorant at least 3 cans, washing powder or liquid, boot polish (kiwi black) and brushes, Letter writing stuff and stamps, Lots of coat hangers about 20 if you've got them, Pens and pencils, A4 pad and folder, Pocket sized hard back note books 2
That's most of the stuff you will need, that list will save you from spending a lot of cash in the shop it will also show your instructors that you are well prepared.
Other stuff you will need is below:
Good running trainers (not fashion trainers), tracksuit, running shorts, t-shirts, 1 set of smart civvies (trousers, shirt, tie and shoes)
oh yeah and a sense of humour
good luck
