Because the media in this country swings far left, and they love nothing more than informing you on deaths. When they could also throw in somewhere that a school was built, or a business is up and running again in one of these countrys.
Most forgot to mention Iraq's economy was one of the fastest growing ones in 2006

There is nothing going good in Iraq and Afghanistan, if Saddam was killing averagely two people in Iraq, Americans are now killing over 100 people a day.
The same in Afghanistan, last year that over 4000 Afghans were killed, Americans could only develop cultivation poppies and more violence in the country.
They have caused separation between Afghanistan’s ethnic groups and more destruction for Afghanistan.
The only development that has happened is coming of a few puppets in to both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Becuase things are some what good in Afghanistan and the far left media only wants to show the bad things in Iraq...

Because Bush and his cronies need to know what is happening in Iraq moreso than Afghanistan. And yes Afghanistan has its poppy seeds, but then, who cares? The Bush administration cares more about the future of the oil fields in Iraq than it does the poppy fields. Plus Afghanistan is full of mountains and Besides, there are fewer Talaiban to worry about. Take a look at a map of Iraq and its rich oilfields. Bush far more interested in oil than mountains!
The media is far smarter than we give them credit for. THEIR interests mirror the interests of the U.S.GOVERNMENT,

It is the main focus right now in the news- the news survives on negativeness- Afghanistan isn't making as much headwave as Iraq is at this particular moment in time.
