If so is it rare for them to go? Are there any stationed reserves for the coast guard overseas now? What does the coast guard do exactly? Do they just control U.S. waterways? Keep in mind that all these questions pertain to the reserves please.

From the little i know there were volunteers that came to Europe to join the fight against the Germans but the US as a nation did not get involved until afterJapan bombed Pearl Harbour.
So had it not been for Pearl harbour ... would they have bothered? Would the beaches in France have seen the same action to rid Europe of the evil that was ...?
What you reckon ...

I have a 19 yr old female cousin who just enlisted in the WI guard. Her fiance (18 yr old HS student) is signed up for the USMC. Her guard recruit told him to get a communist tattoo on his chest and the USMC will kick him out and the WI guard will pick him up. So, the dumb **** went and did this. Big circle with a cycle etc on his chest. He swears he is a communist now and a budist! Is there any validity to the recruiters statement. He even gave him the $$ to do it.

I know I am. You hear all this crap about how America needs to stay out of the rest of the world and stop trying to act like they own it. You hear that we should mind our own bussiness and the Middle Easterns problems should be delt by the Middle East, that we should the Communist to the East alone and let the world deal w/ its own problems. That we, the US, need to keep to ourselves and stop trying to rule over the world. I bet all of you out there have heard something along those lines.

Well, you know what? Lets do it. Lets pull every single one of our troops from every single place, except America. And we'll stop helping the rest of the world and let them deal w/ their own problems. I would give the world 5 years before alot of countries are begging for our help. The Middle East alligns w/ China and starts the next World War a couple years from now (Just an example). Europe would be begging us to come in and help.

When will the idiot politicians get out of this mess. One of our peoples life isn't worth all the crap in Iraq. Bush is a bumbling idiot. Take the 2 trillion dollars that is being spent and protect our borders. Dont get me wrong, I would pick up a rifle and fight anybody that was taking my country over (even though I'm 60) well gee that kinda sounds like what the people are doing in Iraq. What gives us the right to tell another country what kinda government they must have. Talk about puppet governments.

What force in the world would be able to face the United States in a conventional war. When I say conventional, I mean a classic country-on-country all out war, not the nip-in-the-heels guerilla tactics we've seen lately. I'm sure a few will say North Korea, but that would be a pretty fast one, because our long-range fire power would smoke that entire country before we even put boots on the ground. (No, I'm not declaring war on anybody, it's just interesting to speculate "what if...") Thanks everyone, I look forward to hearing what you think.

And THEN Yahoo decides to take off the "discuss this" option?
We are in a war! Not in a political correctness crisis! To the government that is prosecuting these men, instead of standing up for them, I am ASHAMED at the lack of support being shown to our guys that are doing what they have been trained to do. When they can no longer get people to join the military and we get everything taken away because everyone is AFRAID to defend us, then what? Also will Yahoo censor this question? They certainly did not give us the option to respond to the news article!
