Military - December 2006

American are being shot by Iraqi snipers, and Americans only act retroactively.
Why arent our snipers undercover seeking their snipers?
All it takes is thermal imaging/night vision goggles, and setting up a perimeter farther out. Snipers are obvious even to the untrained eye.

And dont try to tell me Americans are too obvious. Delta Force and Navy SEALS are highly trained to operate as foreign subjects, including fluency. See: Richard Marcinko, 'Rogue Warrior' in which a small group of SEALS were able to pass themselves as locals in Beirut, even obtaining information sought after by US intelligence for months.

And to those who think sniping is cowardice, I suggest a refresher course on American military tactics 1776-1783 particularly, 'Battle of Lexington and Concord'.

So why are we unable to adapt, and place our snipers in position to snipe them? Is our military really so top heavy with approvals and permissions and decision making channels?

I know right now they're allies, sort of, NATO and all that, but times change. Besides, the United States is on a killing spree in Middle East, for quite a few years. My guess is UK would side with the USA, and Europe would ask Russia's help. What do you think?

Thanks

I think that the USA's actions inspired the 9/11/01 bombings. The USA sneaks up and bombs non military targets all the time.

Senator John Mc Cain was doing just that when he was shot down during the Vietnam War. He was bombing a powerplant. We killed 3.5 million in that war and crawled away as LOSERS.

We are on the same immoral level of the worst terrorist or his nation. We are a terrorist nation of the FIRST ORDER and have more innocent blood on our hands that we care to admit.

We have been BOMBING and Killing for years yet...OUR people become INNOCENT on 9/11/01? WHY? The USA deserved 9/11/01.....the people that died that day were innocent victims...just like the MILLIONS we have KILLED.

We are a terroist nation...do the body count....count the cities we have bombed. Count our offensive weapons...

There is NO WAY any GOD would bless america......we are a nation of bombers...no better than any other terrorist organization

Killing innocent civilians is always terrible..it happens sometimes when military forces are put in dangerous ,impossible situations by their leaders.

George W Bush is responsible for this child's death plus, 3000 american troops and countless other IRAQIs.

I think the child should be buried on Bush's Texas ranch in Crawford..or on the White House lawn....or in the PENTAGON?

What cha think? What do you think the whole MUSLIM world thinks?

I know the guidelines of how military discipline and traditions work...that non-com's are lower in rank than junior officers....but how do junior officers really treat chief petty officers and sergeant majors? Is there a level of reverence for their rank or their age?

Any thoughts?

When I as in the Army in the 80s, a high school drop out with a criminal record could join. (not me btw, I was MI)

I liked this concept because it gave unprivileged persons that had made mistakes in life a chance for a career and education.

Now, they are not allowed... well since Reagan.

So, say today there was a draft, it appears to me all the 'rejects' would be sitting at home while the qualifying ones for a better society would be sent to war.

Do rules change during a draft or am I wrong?

I know looking back dosen't help, BUT all the cut backs they did with the Military really made a "Big Shortage" and all for money. It basically gave a bright view of our butts....Now they are asking for help?? explain this to me.....

Now one arguement is they got rid of the loafers...but I know they also got rid of a lot of good people who were tagged not to re enlist...they lost all benefits..retirement and very few given a severance...but that was only 20,000 ...One guy with 16 1/2 yrs excellent service record SGT in the Army....

Not just in India, in general in other countries too, are police and other law enforcement personnel of any rank required to salute a commissioned military officer, be it Army or Navy or Air Force? Say, when the military convoy is passing by in civil area or when they come face to face at any ceremony? Also, what about the reverse? Should a military officer salute a senior police officer?
