There is no scientific way of answering this question, other than looking at the Mare deCourcey model which predicts fatalities in battle.

This model indicates that the US Marines are likely to suffer slightly higher injuries and significantly higher fatalities when compares to the Royal Marines in a battle of equal ferocity.

Whether this indicates the US Marines are braver or less efficient is open to question.

If there were a choice between the USMC Force Recon and the Royal Marine Commandos (the real question of who has the best trained specialty forces), even the USMC Marines will conclude the RMC are the tougher lot. The RMC has the reputation of being one of the most stringent combat arms in the world. Their qualification range has only two outcomes: pass or fail, there's none of this grandfathering or excuses due to medical or physical limitations. Either pass, or go through the entire qualification course, again (which is like repeating boot camp).

The British special forces are regarded as one of the worst outfitted services (they truly have some rotten weapons and gear), but what they do without, they make up with the toughest military training known. Along with the SAS, they are within the top special forces units in the world (along with Delta, S.E.A.L.S., the Green Berets and Force Recon).

Any USMC Marine or Force Recon member would feel right at home in regards of a RMC's professionalism, and abilities to complete their objectives.

You can ask any US Marine who has served with the Royal Marines and they will tell you the Royal Marines are a lot better. The US Marines are glorified infantry there is nothing special about them, the British Royal Marines are classed as special forces in some peoples eyes. The Royal Marine training is some of the toughest and their assault course is probably the toughest and only they can complete it.
Royal Marines all the way!!!!!
I have a lot of respect for the US Marines.

I once trained with Royal Marines at the NATO LERP school at Weingarten, Germany. I can tell you they are tough, well-trained soldiers. They were better than the Green Berets and US Rangers that went through the school.
How do they compare with the US Marines? My hunch is they are complimentary and neither is "better" than the other. Both are small, elite formations, but have similar missions. The US Marines in fact were inspired by the tradition of the Royal Marines of the 18th century. So I'd say they are identical in performance, standards, and training. The two are different only in terms of the culture.

I think our own Marines are some of the best trained and equipped fighters. Add to that the Marines I stood watch with were dead serious about their jobs. Marines today are well educated (as to a WW2 Marine we didn't have the advance weapons then).
Also take a look at the book Iwo Jima, this was probably the toughest job ever taking those islands. The Japanese refused to surrender and fought to the death.

I like how the royals still manhandle each other.Once on a NATO ex in Norway we (the Canucks) had to defend a beach head. The yanks couln't take it,they got massicured, but the Royal Marines landed with a few of their commandoe units and kicked or ***.One big burley lad, comes up and says"hit the dirt mates",buddy show some attitude and the brit promptly removed 4 teeth in one shot with his rifle butt.We ate dirt fast after that. They are truely cement heads that reserve our respect. They allowed a 3% casuilty rate on a ex...unheard of over here.

US Marines are better trained, better equipped, and more adept at being inserted into any enviornments in the world. They are also much more disciplined. Royal Marines are a bunch of tossers. Just kidding. They are simply trained to do different things. Royal Marines are trained to do the more traditional tasks of marines...providing security on ships. US Marines are trained to be a more reliable soldier. The brunt of their training is about combat, and land based fighting.

US Marines practice longer than Royal Marines. Brits are fool of warm rubbish by using fact they do no longer learn the quite a few branches. i'm going to ruin it down with math and data: Infantry. USMC: 13 weeks in uncomplicated training with out day off. 13 weeks = ninety one days in uncomplicated training. additionally after uncomplicated training US Marines bypass to Infantry college that's fifty 9 days long. So, US Marines practice for a hundred and fifty days directly. USMC infantry college is a ingredient of AIT, stepped forward Indivdual training. All US branches have AIT after boot camp. It relies upon on your mos how long you attend AIT, yet I in basic terms blanketed Marine Infantry to evaluate to the Royal Marines. Radio Operators, Intel Operators, computing device Operators and ect can practice for as much as a 12 months. regardless of each thing of this training in AIT, US Marines are finally sent to their unit for greater training. subsequently, 13 weeks and that's that's a delusion created via the British to bash their American opposite numbers. All branches of the U. S. Armed serives has uncomplicated training and AIT!!!! that's a actuality. Royal Marines: 32 weeks with the weekends off. additionally after week 12 Royal Marines get prolonged go away so as that they'd bypass to their mummy, girlfriends, and relatives. Royal Marines training: 32 weeks with weekends off = one hundred sixty days of training. additionally the Royal Marines don't have AIT or infantry college via itself. it somewhat is blanketed interior the 32 week training era. this may be a bona fide actuality Brits continuously forget approximately to point. Royal Marines in basic terms practice one hundred sixty days and then they're sent to their unit for extra training. subsequently, i did no longer comprise the two weeks the Royal Marines get,the two, lol. US Marines even have specific forces spoke of as rigidity Recon. They practice upwards of two 12 months till now they're sent to their unit. USMC is greater useful by using fact it somewhat is land, sea, and air. The USMC additionally has its very own airforce that's larger than the Royal Airforce, lmfao. Brits do no longer understand what they're speaking approximately. for this reason they weren't something purchase cannon fooder interior the conflict on terror. they only left Iraq, lol. US Marines had to take over and that they finally gained what the Royal Marines could no longer win USMC California.

U.S. Marine Corps = astronomically better funded (by about 400%), larger population base, greater numbers overall.

British Royal Marines = arguably more rigorously (or shall I say rigourously) trained. Lower per capita casualty rate.

If it came down to the whole USMC vs. the whole BRM, I'd bet my life savings on the USMC, and possibly borrow to increase my bet even more.

If it came down to a one on one, I wouldn't bet at all.
