I have lost contact with an old friend who is in the military and I would like to know if he is safe.

Well if you know what unit they are in you could do that but chances are you dont. I was in the army and we had a websight we could go on the check on where our buddys were and stuff. If you have another friend in the military you could have them look it up.

Yep Mac H is probably on the right track... you could use AKO whitepages... everybody and thier brother is on there... of course if you can get access to AKO... I think its still open to family members and other oddballs... just about every american citizen can get to AKO, of course there are limits to what they can do there with a "guest membership"

You can call the unit they are serving with and ask them. Or call the parents of the individual, they should be able to tell you.
