What are some good arguments against the reinstatement of the military draft?

What is a good alternative/solution to the draft?

If you wrote a letter against the draft to someone who could influence it, who would you write it to (Representative? Senator? President?) and what would you say?

Read more about the bill to reinstate the military draft here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061119/pl_nm/usa_politics_draft_dc

I have a Master's in Journalism. For the last eight years though, I've worked as a news artist for a large media organization and utilized my artistic and journalism skills to create informational graphics. But I've always had a love for military affairs and would like to know how to make a transition to become a think tank policy analyst.

This is a letter from my soldier; While at BAF we watched a Fallen Comrade ceremony…the street was lined with warriors from every branch of the service…the weather was chilly and dark…and then came the open-ended humvee with the flag draped casket in the back. We watched as someone’s son, brother, father, husband made there way towards eternity…the emotions are hard to contain and it was so moving to see everyone out there, standing in solidarity, in the cold saluting as the fallen hero passed. Not a word was said…just the silence of angels welcoming home a brave soul who gave his all for the freedom that so many enjoy. Another Gold Star banner to be hung in the home of a great American family…Another flag that will be folded and presented to those he left behind…Another champion of the helpless welcomed by the Lord on this solemn day…

God Bless the families of those who give their sons and daughters for the great cause of freedom…may their memory forever be etched on the faces of

My experience is that near every US Military base, especially on US soil,, there are many business that seem to do nothing but prey on young Enlisted people with terrible "deals" on junk replete with high interest, not to mention those blood sucking payday loan places.

Does this bug you? What kind(s) of scams do you see that are common pitfalls for young Enlisted?

I was doing a research on war and politics and I came over a few words that I did not get. Like in the Vietnam Wars, the term domino theory was used. Can you explain to me who invented the term when and what it is? also the Checks and Balances system in our government. I have the slightest idea of what it is. I appreciate all helps.

Nagasaki was bombed only three days after Hiroshima hardly allowing the Japanese leadership time to acess the damages caused by the first bomb even without accounting for the effects of the elctromagnetic pulse on communication.
Did we originally plan to drop both bombs to se the difference of effects of both types of weapons ( Uranium, and Plutonium) ,or worse yet did we kill 75000 men women and children to show the Soviets we had more than one and intimidate our then ally?
